Neither has Alex Jones. All of his book-shaped objects are ghostwritten, but this one was even more screamingly obvious than usual. When he talked about it, it was like he barely knew what it was even supposed to be about. (No of course I do not listen to InfoWars. I listen to Knowledge Fight, the podcast that makes fun of InfoWars.)
I've had this off and on my entire life, since I was in my twenties. It was only in the last six or seven years that it's been pinned down as to what it is, and if I take the right meds, I'm OK within two days, rather than suffering for weeks and months as I have done previously. Last time I went to the doctor and said "Hey, last time, I got these two meds for diverticulitis and it went away immediately, can I have them again?" but she made me wait until other tests were done. This time, I think I'm just going to sit in that office and not leave until I get the meds. I've had this a dozen times or more in my life, this one feels exactly like all the others did, and only one thing has ever helped.
I'm not in too much pain as long as I don't eat, but how long can that be sustained? Herbal tea and watered down broth is OK for a couple of days, but you can't live an active life on that forever.
Every now an then, I'm tempted to write a full blown conspiracy manifesto resplendent with Scripture references, accounts of alleged meetings with high ranking government, military and industry officials. and analysis of recent events from the perspective of a real insider (me). A true non-fiction grand espose of all the horrible shit that's really going on, all of it a complete fabrication of course. I think I could make some serious loot. I don't think it would be illegal. After all, it's just my opinions based upon my findings, and covered by my First Amendment rights. People like Jones, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al have been doing it for years. Really, I don't think they actually believe half of the shit they put out there. Just in it for the $$$ What prevents me from pursuing this big money making scheme. I'm shackled by this thing called a "Conscience" Unlike the afore mentioned, I just wouldn't feel right about lying to millions of people. Guess I'm just a loser.

It is in the wild! He, or she, hangs out by our front door either on the building itself as here, or on the rails of the old garden which is now mostly just some bushes and weeds though of course I am slowly planting things in it cause garden
Remember, tomorrow we look at our crazy fellow citizens and say, "Wow. You didn't get raptured? Tommy got raptured. So did Suzi. What did you do to piss God off?"
Interesting that President Biden never panicked over bad poll numbers. Probably for two reasons - the president doesn't panic when things go wrong (or seemingly goes wrong) and because polls this far out are junk (and some of them have used questionable methodology to get their desired results). And a third reason - there have been polls favorable to Biden all along, but the media has obsessed over the polls favoring trump.
We start a new term today, and I half suspect the counselors are trying to get rid of me. Most of my classes are very small - small enough for central admin to look at them and wonder why they're paying my salary. The one that isn't is small has about half our most ill-behaved students, including one of the five students in my entire teaching career I actually dislike as a person (they're just every kind of asshole you can imagine).
I'm not usually a count-down sort of teacher, but I will be counting the days to the end of this school year.
There is another way to see this in my experience: they like you, so they're trying to keep your classes small. (Just thinking about this from the 'small classes are rare and precious' perspective. So even if you suspect them of foul play, they may be doing you a favor?)
I would think so, if the de facto leader hadn't made a big speech about making sure everyone had decent size classes so the central admin wouldn't think we didn't need people at a recent staff meeting.
Ugh, sorry. But it sounds (from your comment below) as though you're in a very strong position, no matter what puerile shit they may try to pull. Annoying though, yes!
Yeah, I ain't got time for that. I've got seniority, my direct bosses love me, I've got a decade of great evaluations, and I know people in central office. I'm not worried about losing my job, I'm just annoyed that that suspicion exists and at how difficult it will make doing our jobs effectively.
Considering the shortage of teachers right now, especially teachers willing to teach, and with a proven track record in teaching, troubled students, they should be bending over backward to keep you.
My carry-on bag got shunted to secondary screening because the $7 in loose change looked sus to the machine. Just the bag got checked, which is a shame - I got cleaned up in anticipation of a strip search.
"Justin Trudeau may soon lose his job over an unpopular new carbon tax"
The pigeon would be riling up the idiots with something else if it wasn't the carbon tax... It's only unpopular because of all the bullshit being spewed by Polievre and his dumbshit enablers.
I don't even know how to respond to this. I mean, yeah, great NYT, glad you are finally catching on. Maybe you should have been doing this debunking all along, just sayin'. Timidity in the face of fascism is not a great look for the Paper of Record.
Happy Eclipse Day to all who celebrate. Today will be mostly sunny in the low 60s, 3 minutes of totality in North Bumfuck, NY, Ford willing. Yesterday would have been perfect viewing conditions.

Upfist for Knowledge Fight.
Damn. My diverticulitis is back.
I've had this off and on my entire life, since I was in my twenties. HUH wonder why they are so adamant about THIS package. Can't put my finger on it.....
It would be nice if the other republicans were brave enough to vote for the forced petition thing, but they are not. 🐔🐓🍗
Playing hooky to deal with the bank this morning. Was just gonna take the morning and then go in this afternoon but meeeehhhhhh
So much for not using up my time lolz.
Oh well, have a bat cat playing with the kitchen rug, as one does.

My kitty used to beat up the kitchen rug. That whole tear in, flop, furious bunny kick, tear back out. Crazy beast. Is that leezard in the wild?

Do they think today is rapture day? I’m currently in the rural south, should I leave random clothes around on the sidewalks?
rofl XD that is brilliant
I’m actually a little mad, I had a big clear out over the weekend. Had I kept a few of those clothes…
Another worthless poll article. Do better journalists.

I am sure we shall be treated to a few sudden "everyone we polled is not enthused by Biden" polls to cover this deficit.
And I hear he's old!
you know, I did not realize he was old when I voted for him ALL those years ago in..2020
The Homunculus is reportedly going to regale us with his position on abortion today.
I wish he had been one.
But polls are all they know.

Ah yes, the sort of student whose name you love to see on the absent list for the day! I remember those.
Sounds awful! Hope that it's not as bad as you think it will be.
A bad term I can manage. The suspicion that some of my colleagues are trying to get me fired is a bigger concern.
There is another way to see this in my experience: they like you, so they're trying to keep your classes small. (Just thinking about this from the 'small classes are rare and precious' perspective. So even if you suspect them of foul play, they may be doing you a favor?)

I sometimes rub people the wrong way. I know, shocking.
Nun, das ist einmalig in der Geschichte . . .
My carry-on bag got shunted to secondary screening because the $7 in loose change looked sus to the machine. Just the bag got checked, which is a shame - I got cleaned up in anticipation of a strip search.
"You can't always get what you want ..."
Disappointing.
Just used the last of the Reynolds Wrap to fashion some protective head gear for this important day!
Make sure you shape it correctly, or it will act as a wave guide.
Indeed, that's why I left the antenna off in my design.
Stop mocking my Beohelmit!
Yes, as I recall that was a man in a gorilla suit with a space boy helmet! Two antennae!

Actual NYTIMES headline:
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩’𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬
A close examination of every public word from the former president during a crucial week of his campaign.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/08/us/politics/trump-speech-mistruths.html
The Times proves unable to use three letter word, despite employing people with journalism degrees - Here's why that's bad news for Joe Biden.
Oh hey, they coulda asked me, I could have saved them a trip to the AI generator.
"He lies to tell his bigoted fans what they want to hear, sorta like that Hitler guy"
The word is "lie". Stating fact is not being "partisan".
Fucking cowards. If you wanted to break into entertainment, rather than journalism, the clown college is THAT way.
“Mistruths”. Jesus H.
I don't even know how to respond to this. I mean, yeah, great NYT, glad you are finally catching on. Maybe you should have been doing this debunking all along, just sayin'. Timidity in the face of fascism is not a great look for the Paper of Record.
It's a familiar one, though.
I'd pull my face off to reveal a polished skull, then breathe a stream of hellfire all over the pusillanimous crap.
But I'm a traditionalist with a tender nature.
Play the audience like a deranged cold reader?
I can't even pronounce "mistruths".
𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘴...
Let's be disingenuous about 𝘭𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, FFS!
I pronounce it "lies".
One thing I hadn't considered is that my trees aren't fully leafed out so the mini eclipse pictures probably won't be as robust. We'll see.
Happy Eclipse Day to all who celebrate. Today will be mostly sunny in the low 60s, 3 minutes of totality in North Bumfuck, NY, Ford willing. Yesterday would have been perfect viewing conditions.
Anywho, see yinz all on the dark side of the Moon.
I'm looking through a hole in the sky
I'm seeing nowhere through the eyes of a lie
I'm getting closer to the end of the line
I'm living easy where the sun doesn't shine
The local weather guessers have guessed middle 60s, and clear skies...
The Bier Stube and its garden is looking like The Right Place.
Won't be visible here, sadly, so I'll have to enjoy it via pictures that everybody else will put on the web.
