Earlier this year, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case about whether Ohio's False Statement law, which prohibits making false statements about a candidate, is unconstitutional. This has, regrettably, meant that the Cato Institute has weighed in with a brief that they are sure is super-funny and we are sure is non-hilarious dreck.
What is this dreck doing in a Supreme Court case? I realize that the presence of Alito, Scalia, and Thomas have rendered the court a joke, but don't the sane ones deserve a little dignity?
I'm old enough to remember when PJ O’Rourke was funny. He wrote an article (in Rolling Stone of all magazines?) about young kids protesting in South Korea that was clever, sad, funny, and explained a lot.
That was, of course, quite some time ago. I can also remember back to when Michael Jackson was Black.
Wait, wait don't tell me. P.J. Rourke is a comedian?

Is that Whitney saying "Crack is whack?"

Remember after he made "Silver Streak" Richard Pryor asked where all those Black inmates in the New Mexico State Prison came from?
Wait ... they have a law that prohibits making false statements about a candidate?
How is Faux News not banned in Ohio?
Too soon.
Speaking as a 'Poon subscriber from roughly '70 to '76, let me remark that PJ wasn't particularly funny even then.
Now, THAT'S funny.
As I mentioned above, he was OCCASIONALLY funny when he wrote for the Poon.
Cultural exchange.
