Border Patrol Guy So Dumb Even Chuck Todd Can Dunk On Him

It's your Sunday Show Rundown!

We begin today with acting (aren't they all?) commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection and gang member clairvoyant Mark Morgan. Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper, Morgan was asked about the ICE raids on chicken processing plants in Mississippi that occurred on the same day Trump was grinning like a jackass while making orphaned newborns come back for photo ops in El Paso, Texas.

Tapper begins by asking Morgan why, if they are focused on "violent criminals," did this raid happen:

MORGAN: Well, so, first of all, I never said that the raids, as you call, were focused on violent criminals. I have never said that. And, also, I think words matter. These aren't raids. These are targeted law enforcement operations. And, in this case, this was a joint criminal investigation with ICE and the Department of Justice targeting work site enforcement, meaning companies that knowingly and willfully hire illegal aliens, so that, in most cases, they can pay them reduced wages, exploit them further for their bottom line.

Interesting theory Morgan has here: In order to investigate a crime, you arrest the victims or those exploited rather than the people actually victimizing or exploiting them. Tapper, just as confused by this strategy, asked a similar question:

TAPPER: Well, I'm saying, why aren't you focusing more on the companies and the business owners?

MORGAN: They -- they are. Again, this was a joint criminal investigation between ICE and the Department of Justice, which was targeting the companies that were hiring illegal aliens. That's exactly...

TAPPER: Are there any charges against the companies or the business owners?

MORGAN: It is a pending investigation right now. There was a criminal search warrant to go in there to collect more information, more intelligence. And that investigation is ongoing. But that is the intent of that investigation.

TAPPER: Is it important for businesses to not employ these individuals who are in this country illegally and exploit them, as you suggested?

MORGAN: Absolutely. And -- but it is twofold. So I think the American people need to understand that is exactly what is happening. So these individuals seeking a better life first are being exploited by the cartels to come here.

TAPPER: Right.

MORGAN: Once they come in the United States, then they're further exploited by United States companies by paying them reduced wages [...]

Well, how compassionate of CBP and ICE to protect people who are exploited by arresting them in massive raids while they're at work and their children are at school.

But while speaking of the cruel exploitation of children, Morgan decided to home in on the "real" exploitation: news media showing footage of 11-year-old Magdalena Gomez Gregorio, sobbing as she pleaded with the government to have a heart.

MORGAN: […] These individuals here and the girl -- I know it is emotional. I know it is done on purpose to show a picture like that.

TAPPER: What is done on purpose?

MORGAN: But -- but -- to show the girl. Jake, listen...

TAPPER: Just the people in the wake of these raids. We interview people who are affected by them.

MORGAN: But -- but how about interview the people that -- because a majority of time in these cases, these individuals that are here illegally, they also steal identities of US citizens, they get fraudulent documents, Social Security cards and etc. And so it is not just a victimless crime that is going on here. First of all, they are here illegally. And then a lot of times, there is additional fraud that goes with this for them to try to get these jobs in the companies. So I understand that the girl is upset. And I get that. But her father committed a crime. And just so the American people know also, is that girl, her mother was home, and she was reunited with her mother within a few hours that night.

Oh! You only traumatized THIS particular child for a few hours, so that's ok! So how dare the media report things that make cruel ICE raids look cruel! And these identity documents you speak of, Morgan, where are they getting them from? Are these criminal masterminds that can steal identities and forge documents just working long hours in a chicken processing plant as cover? Seems once again you are going after the desperate victims rather than the system that exploits them. Jake Tapper also seems confused at this dichotomy:

TAPPER: I want to ask you, because -- because, I mean, you're talking about how this is a pending investigation into these businesses, but we see the human cost of this borne by the undocumented immigrants and their families over and over and over again. And, like, I just gave you this statistic from Syracuse, in the last year, zero companies prosecuted, only 11 individuals prosecuted. I mean, if you focused on the companies, wouldn't that have more of a deterring effect than going after these individuals, who are desperate?

MORGAN: So, Jake, again, I -- I -- this is the third time -- that was the intent of that investigation.

TAPPER: But I'm talking about, in the last year, only -- zero companies and 11 individuals for the last year.

MORGAN: I -- I can't speak to the Department of Justice on how many cases they have.

Great answer, Mark Morgan! If only you could use your future sight in not racist ways! Like say, your boss's organization being one of the employers nobody's terribly concerned about.

There's also the strange coincidence these workers who were detained and later (mostly) released happen to have unionized and won a $3.75 million lawsuit    for racial discrimination, national origin discrimination, and sexual harassment against Latinx workers in that very same Morton, Mississippi, facility . I'm sure that's a coincidence and not, say, intimidation BY OUR GOVERNMENT of union/undocumented workers.

On NBC's "Meet The Press," acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan was trying to make similarexcusesjustifications for the ICE raids when Chuck Todd actually made some great points. (We know!!!)

TODD: These, were these, I mean -- 600 agents, it's our understanding they were drawn from all sorts of parts of the country. You have said, the system is stressed. Targeting nonviolent undocumented people, is that the priority? Shouldn't the priority be of the criminals, that supposedly, the gang -- if that's -- isn't that the priority? What evidence that these people were harming society?

McALEENAN: So let me be clear. The priority, right now, is our border security crisis, the humanitarian and security crisis at the border and the threat --

TODD: So this -- Mississippi is not on the border.

McAleenan then tried to assuage the American people, but even that seemed totally insincere:

McALEENAN: So this was done with sensitivity.

TODD: You say it's done with sensitivity. And yet, we have kids without parents.

Help me, Jebus, these Trump fuckmooks are so incompetent even Chuck Todd can easily dunk on them!
