WE have now in power people from generations who have never experienced harsh realities. War is a glorious experience where we kill all the bad guys while suffering very minimal casualties, as depicted in action movies and comic books. Rural life was a warm wonderful experience like we see in the Waltons or Little House on the Prairie. Southern plantations were populated by kindly White owners attended to lovingly by happy Darkies strumming banjos singing and dancing in the evening. Childhood diseases had been nearly eradicated by antibiotics and vaccines so they never saw any of their friends or siblings ravaged and killed by communicable disease. In short we became a nation of blind happy idiots who placed those willing to feed our fantasies in positions of authority. God help us!

Of all the shitty, incompetent, dishonest, craven and corrupt people in the Trump administration, I nominate Kennedy as the most dangerous, least qualified and looniest of them all.

People are so bad at risk assessment.

Because in one small aspect, the anti vaxxers have a point - no vaccine is 100% safe and risk-free. Most adverse events are small and unimportant, but there are tiny possibilities of serious consequences. So they latch onto those and yell "See, see! This one child in three million died!" And that is an undeniable tragedy for that child and its family.

But they ignore the thousands of deaths that would have occurred within that three million if they had not been vaccinated.

We are seeing so much evidence recently of the sting in the tail of successful medical intervention - if something doesn't happen, people don't know that it didn't happen. They think kids reaching adulthood without cavities is normal. They think kids not being thrown from cars in traffic accidents is normal. And they think all of their children living to adulthood because they did not contract previously common preventable diseases is normal.

Hey. If it can't be cured with leaches, I don't think it needs to be cured.

Fuck Ted Cruz.

Is there ANYTHING the Xtiains can't spin as punishment from their God, who also lurves us so much, dontchaknow?!?

Apparently, we're all supposed to lock ourselves in our houses and never come out, lest we inadvertantly do something in the outside world to piss off their rageaholic God...

Wild that we’ve reached a point where protecting newborns from a lethal virus is considered “woke.” Babies aren’t shooting heroin in the delivery room. They’re catching hepatitis from mothers who often never got the care they deserved. Rescinding this vaccine isn’t freedom. It’s negligent cosplay. You laid out the stakes clearly. The science is simple. The consequences are not optional.

Ta, Robyn. I think ALL babies are slutty junkies, so there! Vaccinate them all!

That said, all my clients at the FQHC are HIV positive. Many, many of them also have Hepatitis B. When they take their antiretrovirals every day, the viral load of Hep B drops along with the viral load of HIV.

Just for comparison's sake:

Hepatitis B prevalence among kiddies under 5 in the US is 0.01%.

Because most of Western Europe only gives the vaccine at birth to at-risk populations, it's 0.41% in the UK, 0.15% in France, and 0.21% in Germany.

In Canada a birth dose of the vaccine depends on the province -- the country averate is 0.34%.

Brazil gives the birth vaccine to all babies. It's prevalence is 0.02% -- not much worse than ours.

"The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is preparing to vote on the hepatitis B vaccine recommendation and — given that it is now chock full of “vaccine skeptics” — it is highly likely that they will rescind it.

This is a bad thing."

It all depends on your POV. If you're a normie then this sucks bigly. OTOH if you're a religious zealot or thinks the gubmint should stay out of family decisions like vaxx mandates then it's about fucking time. Our ancestors did just fine without vaccinations being readily available and efficacious. Oh... wait... life expectancy was dramatically shorter compared to what it is today: in 1900 it was ~47 years old and today it's ~79 years.

If the zealots have their way the entire country will follow the lead of WV and ban ***all*** vaxx mandates. After which we can all sit back and enjoy a very rare event: several consecutive years with a declining life expectancy.

-----

"The vast majority of these were fevers and injection site reactions. Eighteen were deaths."

As Papa Joseph Stalin said: "The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of a million is a statistic." The RINOs hope we focus on the 18 deaths -- with no regard as to the cause -- instead of the 1753 other cases reported to VAERS.

Bobby and nis merry band of medical miscreants are providing just what Republicans, who ride a Pale Horse, want: Disease, Decay, Death - for the weaker members of society, because of course, if one is a wealthy Republican, one would surely be safe from any of those things. But just think of all the lower classes, that they can kill off - leaving just enough to act as servants to the oligarchy.
