Cussy Congresswoman Badass Making Chris Cillizza Cry :(
Chris Cillizza leading the parade!
The word on everybody's lips today is "motherfucker," which everyone hears at least once each Christmas while watchingDie Hard.Brand-spanking new congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan used the word in public last night, and it's apparently an affront to common decency. Speaking of which, Donald Trump, the subject of Tlaib's scorn, uses foul language all the time. He's dismissed countries as "shitholes."He's been caught on tape boasting of grabbing women by their"pussies" and called Sally Yates a "cunt." There's alsodefinitely, maybe recordings of Trump using a particular slur for black people that the editrix won't let me type here. It's possible that in the future, historians won't even bother referring to the 45th president by his birth name but will just call him "that motherfucker."
However, you can't beat Trump by joining him. That's the savvy political advice Chris Cillizza offered today. There are so many mediocre white guys out there coming for Rep. Tlaib that Cillizza's piece is a convenient one-stop shop for all the dumbest of dumb takes. When CNN wises up some wonderful day and fires his ass, Cillizza can just open up a "dumb take shop" in a small town where women don't swear or dance. Seriously, this motherfucker is always wrong, as we shall now demonstrate.
What Tlaib did on Thursday night might feel good for Democrats. It might make them feel as though they are regaining some of the fire and the fight they lost when Trump won in 2016. But it almost certainly is the wrong strategy if Democrats want to beat Trump in 2020.
Why? Well, put as simply as possible: Never wrestle with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it.
That's useful advice if you're ever tempted to wrestle pigs. However, Cillizza must live in some alternate reality where Mary Poppins Returns beat Aquaman at the box office and where, for instance, police officers, federal prosecutors, or especially soldiers at war don't use foul language to describe the bad guys they're combatting. This isn't a tea party. It's not even normal politics. It's a war. Tlaib isn't simply, as Cillizza condescendingly puts it, making Democrats "feel good." She is hyping up the troops before a battle.
Donald Trump will say and do anything -- and I mean anything -- that he believes will work to his political advantage. There are no guardrails, there is nothing that he considers off-limits or out-of-bounds. You simply cannot go lower than he is willing to go.
This is what is especially infuriating. Calling Trump a motherfucker isn't, to borrow from Jules Winfeld, in the same ballpark as Trump's baby jails, unpersoning of transgender people, and Muslim bans. It's not the same league. It's not the same sport. Disrespecting Trump is not about "going lower." Respect is earned, not just handed over after a stolen electoral college victory. No one who gleefully mocks sexual assault survivors deserves respect.
"Motherfucker" is a vulgar term, but one that's relatively benign. It's a non-gendered, non-ethnic-based equal opportunity insult. "Motherfucker" is the "Ebony and Ivory"of curse words. There's a reason why Richard Pryor swapped out the n-word[still not letting him type it -- editrix] for "motherfucker" after disavowing the racial epithet.
Trump's cruelty is vile and diminishing even when it doesn't include any of the famed seven dirty words. Fun-size bigot Ben Shapiro calling a trans woman "sir" repeatedly and deliberately is fouler language than Tlaib getting her Tarantino on.
However, here's where Cillizza almost meets a point but then ghosts on it.
People don't hold Trump to the same standards that they hold other politicians to. Look at the exit polling from the 2016 election . Two-thirds of voters (64%) said that Trump was neither honest nor trustworthy; one-in-five of those people voted for him anyway. A similar 63% said Trump lacked the temperament to be president; he won one-in-five of those voters too.The point here is simple: Trump didn't win because voters thought he was a great guy. They knew he wasn't. Many of them disapproved of the way he ran his campaign -- and the way he acted in his life. They just decided that other things, namely that he represented radical change in Washington, mattered more.
Cillizza, will you please stop telling us that your points are "simple." If they were, we'd get it without your saying so. Anyway, I can't believe he has the audacity to state that people don't "hold Trump to the same standards" as other politicians when he's a major reason why they don't. Cillizza is the same motherfucker who ranked Trump's top insulting nicknames for his political opponents like he was a motherfucking Casey Kasem. What did Cillizza say about Trump's racist nickname (number four on the list) for Elizabeth Warren? "Pocahontas: Offensive? Absolutely. Hard to forget? Also yes." Cillizza then went on to repeat the right's "Warren tried to fake Native American heritage" talking points.
If Cillizza and others in the press responded to Tlaib's comments with a "list of best anti-Trump zingers," the public would likely react differently. "Offensive, sure, but here's all the MANY ways Trump has behaved like a motherfucker." No, the media is too busy telling us why Trump's awfulness is a net benefit.
It also doesn't help that the media lets crap like this go unchallenged.
Expletive-filled rants about our president tell you all you need to know about the priorities of the Democrats in C… https: //t.co/1vKglxixkP
— Ronna McDaniel (@Ronna McDaniel) 1546614180.0
Uncle back-stabber Ronna Romney McDaniel leaps tall falsehoods in a single tweet here. Tlab's "rant" wasn't "expletive-filled." It was one word at the end of a sentence. She didn't go full Moms Mabley or Wonkette. Trump might wrestle furiously with whatever's on his head to keep it in place for the day, but he doesn't fight all that hard for non-Trump Americans. The press just stands by while the GOP paints holding a corrupt president accountable as merely a personal vendetta, destructive politics with no higher goal. Unlike the previous Congress, the Democrats are literally fulfilling their constitutional duties by investigating Trump. The GOP got crushed in November because they tried to give tax cuts to the wealthy on the backs of Americans whose health care they wanted to strip away. Democrats can call Trump "motherfucker" and chew legislative gum at the same time.
Politico, known for its concern trolling, rushed out a piece today about how Tlaib's comments caused Democrats to retire to their taxpayer-funded fainting couches.
Even Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), who introduced an impeachment resolution earlier this week, was shocked. His eyes bulged in disbelief when a reporter read him Tlaib's comments and he was speechless for several seconds.
Is Sherman new to this century? Surely, he's heard people swear in public? Vice President Dick Cheney once told Patrick Leahy to go "fuck himself" on the Senate floor.
After he regained his composure, Sherman said that kind of language is detrimental to the cause: "That's not language I would use … I think the office of the presidency should be treated with respect."
How is Tlaib's language "detrimental to the cause"? If Robert Mueller shows that Trump has committed all the crimes, will his lawyers somehow get him off because Tlaib once called him a "motherfucker"? Law & Order never had courtroom twists that absurd.
This is why I am not sold on a white male Democrat as our 2020 nominee. These guys are so worried about "respecting the office of the presidency" while Trump has Russian prostitutes over to urinate in that office. Frankly, I want a brave, angry woman willing not just to call Trump a motherfucker but treat him like one. It's all that he deserves. But Cillizza and the rest of the dude media won't stand for it.
Now it is your OPEN THREAD. Don't cuss anyone we wouldn't cuss.

It's gotten so them uppity women don't know their place.
A woman's place is in the House.
I wonder if they'd be more okay with it if we referred to Trump as a fatherfucking asshole?
