As un vero paisano, I have to say that Fredo isn’t the kind of slur that would have been leveled at Sacco and Vanzetti, but it IS the sort of putdown that could be leveled to any members of the Trump crime family (all Fredos, no Michaels!).
There are plenty of anti-Italian slurs, but Fredo isn’t one of them.
I really need to watch the whole Godfather series. I never got past the first one in the 70s with the horse's head thing. Now I'm older and much less sqeamish. Also too, recently discovered that part of my family had mob connections.
Plus a lot of the GF I, II, III, references are going right over my head, and that's the main reason to watch really. Was there a IV?
When the Godfather came out, my prim and proper Italian male relatives were tickled that anyone would think they might be Mafia. You never can tell what people are going to come up with. I never got why Italians were upset about the movie, but then again I live in the West. Eastern Italians probably have had it harder when it comes to bigotry.
“I think that what Chris Cuomo did was horrible. His language was horrible, he looked like a total out-of-control animal. He lost it. You’ve never seen me do that. And frankly, I don’t think anybody should defend him, because he spews lies every night.” -- Stunningly un-self-aware Donald Trump, August 13, 2019
Nope. They stopped at III. And if you ask me I'd prefer there never was a Godfather III either. I suffered through that in the cinema and I would recommend you learn from my mistake and save yourself the couple hours of sorrowful boredom it takes to endure.
He -- Chris "Fredo" Cuomo -- is in good company with Limbaugh, because they BOTH have terrible shows.
Eric Trump, OTOH, is the perfect Fredo.
What an outrage for some people to go around equivocating it.

Ugh. It's disrespectful. I used to hate when people called me Lees (for Lisa). Or Leesy (why).
Ben Shapiro has used them both and knows they aren't the same.

The first one is a rare perfect movie. The second one is very good. The third is not so good.

Next we'll be hearing how it's perfectly ok to call random Irish Americans "Patty".
What about Tiffany?
We are forgetting the famous Franco-Italian film director, Alfredo de Darque, auteur of the 'Parrain' series.
Also, very tasty. Very.
This isn't funny at all. This shit really did happen and it devastated families. Chris has a right to be pissed.
