Thomas really does appear to believe that rules and ethics don’t apply to him. And the fact that he’s been getting away with this brazen grifting for over thirty years shows he may be right.

Earlier in this thread, someone pointed out how Abe Fortas was "persuaded" to retire from SCOTUS because he took 20K from a guy who was under scrutiny for securities violations. Fortas returned the money but was still prodded by Dick Nixon ordered an investigation by the Justice Department. The AG, John Mitchell, threatened to prosecute him, so he resigned.

Gee, it sure would be nice to have an aggressive President and AG.

The most crooked, incompetent and worthless blob of protoplasm that has ever been resident on ANY federal bench. A shitstain on the pages of legal history and a self-hating House Negro to boot.

aren't they supposed to be able to impeach judges that pull this kind of shit?

Absolutely. The House of Representatives can impeach him, and then it goes to the Senate. Someone should call Kevin McCarthy and have him get on it right away.

“Given the role Crow has played in subsidizing the lifestyle of Thomas and his wife, you have to wonder if this was an effort to put cash in their pockets.”C’mon guys, it was just a simple reach-around between two good buddies, nothing to see here. Move along now. https://youtu.be/aKnX5wci404

"It was a perfectly respectable Republican bottle of Échézeaux Grand Cru, which sells for only around $3,500, which we were drinking to celebrate Ginni’s new six-figure job at a conservative lobbying group funded by Harlan Crow."

Nice Nixon shoutout!

Antonin Scalia libelz!

You think Harlan and Clarence actually like each other? I shudder to think what the Crows say after Uncle Thomas and Ginni depart from the super yacht.

The problem isn't just John Roberts, Rehnquist ignored what was going on until he died in 2005. A surprise to no one - Rehnquist was appointed by Ronald Fucking Reagan.

Taxpayers get an annual federal gift-tax exclusion. If the value of a gift is over $16K for a person or $32K for a couple (tax year 2022) the person giving the gift has to report this on their taxes. So, if crow showered clarence and ginni with lavish trips in exchange for nothing more than ginni's engaging smile, he probably was required to report the value in dollars.

If, however, strong evidence links a particular gift from crow to something material clarence did for him from the bench, it's no longer a gift, crow is off the hook if he didn't report it, and what we have now is a potential BRIBERY CHARGE FOR CLARENCE AND CROW!
