Hey, everyone, please stop with the Nikki Haley is a brown woman with a foreign-sounding name comments. We get it, but considering she was governor of South Carolina, I think her issue is more that she's not sufficiently MAGA now. She could look like Liz Cheney and, well, we know what happened to Liz Cheney.

The question is, is she susceptible to becoming a Braun woman?

bet you did not see that coming... :)

I keep hearing from liberals that you should never "deadname" a trans person, and yet it's apparently ok to call a child of immigrants by their original ethnic name even when they changed in legally long ago. We should be better than that.

How many of us would call Muhammad Ali "Cassius Clay" or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar "Lew Alcindor"?

okay, fair point. I have long been guilty of exactly this, as a way of expressing my disgust with the children of immigrants joining the xenophobes prating about "Open Borders!!" "Scary Immigrants Are Coming To Kill You!".

p.s. a small crew of Central American, Spanish-speaking immigrants just left after quickly and competently cleaning out my gutters, a job I can no longer do for myself. They didn't take anything, they didn't break anything, and they exhibited NO frightening or untoward behavior.

Yeah, but the problem there is their immigrant bashing--not the fact that they're second generation immigrants themselves, because one constant in human nature is that anyone from any group can be a total piece of shit. And we've seen this game so often you can guess how it'll go--Irish are the hated immigrants, then a generation in they're bitching about Italians and Jews, and then a generation later the Italians and Jews bitch about the Hispanics....

Just watch--Arab and Muslim MAGAs everywhere, complaining about (spins the arrow) Indonesians.

Some of the Cuban immigrants from the 1960s to 1980s who were greeted with open arms and public assistance because they fled the commies are the worst when it comes to admitting Mexican and Central American immigrants. They just don't want them here and think as Cubans they are superior to the other Spanish speaking immigrants.

In college I had a roommate from Nairobi and another from Addis Ababa. They both despised American Blacks. They considered them as losers.

If you ever doubt that much of the hard, physical labor in this country is now being done by Hispanic men, just have some work done on your house and see who shows up.

Not news to me. The last ten years of my working life I witnessed the construction trades and related industries change to majority Hispanic; so too, the service workers ( tree gangs, landscaping and all). I can't recall ever seeing a lazy one or a skiver among them. And these are the people the xenophobes want to massacre at the borders.

Joe Lieberman is holding the door open for Haley to run on the No Labels, aka, the corporate funded spoiler against Joe Biden, ticket.

Won’t happen, though. That would require her to run directly against Trump in the general election. And she’s too chicken shit to do that.

The South punches above its weight in primaries.

For example, we moved our sequence to SC first and GA fourth because Black voters matter a lot in our electorate. Republicans , meanwhile, are sticking with starting with Boring White Places where Haley might do better, but when the deep South and Texas storm in Trump will be in the stratosphere.

I didn't look through all of the preceding non-comments (I took a little unplanned nap, sue me) so perhaps this has already been broached, but, did anyone tell this young sprout Enten about a little episode called "Monkey Business?" You can't hardly google Gary Hart without seeing it in the first paragraph.

Yeah, it was pretty stupid back then tone engaging in an affair, dare the press to prove it, then shortly after be seen leaving your lover's condo around 5:am, or thereabouts. The press took it as a challenge and it did not take them long. The yacht photo was just the icing on the cake. Sort of like John Edwards and his child from an affair while his wife was dying of cancer. But apparently it only affects Democrats. At least permanently. Newt Gingrich and a couple of other Republicans, including the guy supposed to replace Newt as Speaker of the House who were loudest about pillorying Bill Clinton in the Lewinski incident ended up resigning from Congress because they were having affairs. But like a bad penny, Newt keeps popping back up. Where is Larry Flynt when we need him?

I mean who else can they lie about having momentum in being President Klan Robe's distant challenger? Without that phony Haley, who else could they even credibly look at? It's just a clown car full of grifters who will kiss Klan Robe's ring if for a futile attempt to convince his horrible supporters that "yes I'm one of you! I totally support your god king!"

Seeing Newsom rhetorically undress Governor Pudding Boots was fun (and my goodness that guy is weird) but really this debate was a waste of time as the right wing echo chamber already spun it and told the dittoheads what to think.

Just wow, the MSM wankery and trying to make fetch happen with the Republican party coronation is tiresome. And we've got 11 more friggin' months of this interminable, horrid election.

About that pro-business characterization of Ambassador Haley, The biggest biz news splash in the last 15 years was moving Boeing production of the 787 from WA to SC because union busting. That move started under Gov. "Walkabout" Sanford. Car making in SC got underway in 1994 when BMW got in on the no-union game followed by lots of other socialism dodging European car companies. All Nikki did for business was to not get in the way.

"Noting that Haley has whittled Trump’s lead in Iowa and New Hampshire down to just 27 and 22 percent respectively, Enten said, 'The idea is that you win and do better in Iowa than expected, and win New Hampshire and then take off nationally.'"

All you have to do is get way more votes and she's got it! IT'S SO SIMPLE

This morning intrepid journalist Meandrea Mitchell was interviewing Marc Short, former aide to Mike Pence, about Liz Cheney's declarations along with The Atlantic's story about the peril of a 2nd trump presidency presents. Marc Short responds with well I don't agree with everything trump says but I think he was a great president who did great things for the American people. Being the intrepid and thorough journalist that we know Meandrea to be, she responded by asking Marc Short to name a few of his accomplishments. JUST KIDDING!!!! She let that statement lie there undisturbed by facts like a wet turd.
