If we don't overreact to something today, then when 5 years from now it becomes a problem, we would hear, "Why didn't anyone say anything at the time?"

In order to understand what SCOTUS is planning to do with the state maps – not just Texas, but also California, because they are about to apply a deeply racist double standard and people really need to get the totality of the sleight of hand they are doing

I am hoping – AMOF, I am really pleading for – people to bypass the Empty G sensationalist headline for the time being and listen to Elie Mystal, who is Joy’s guest, starting 10 minutes in

I hear you on Loudoun, but it is physically impossible to say, "I live in 𝐶𝑢𝑙peper" without following it with "y'all."

It's a good thing the Coast Guard TACOed on this. I imagine you could get a pretty good Religious Freedom Restoration Act complaint going if swastikas started showing up on base.

Wait for it

I mean - this is what they're about to do with the Voting Rights Act right now

Wait, wait, are we not burying the lede here? Why is the COAST GUARD MASCOT a BEAR???? I reject this utterly! A bear is not a water animal! Except maybe a water bear, which would be an awesome mascot!

Ok. I read on the bear. It’s pretty much goes back to simpler times. Still didn’t make much sense, but they seem to like it. The CG. Not the bears.

But had they stuck with the policy, a bear with a swastika might be very frightening. Especially with cocaine.

Bingo. Maybe THATS it.

NGL, I thought it was a character from "Five Nights at Freddie's".

I'm just kind of glad that the Coast Guard did not include Pride flags in with Swastikas and nooses.

Am I the only one who noticed that the new word "divisive" is still inserted before the description of banned items? That's code for anything they don't like. What's more divisive than a rainbow, what with breaking all that pure white light up into all those icky colors?

I'm in DC and y'all is perfecty acceptable, 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭. South of the Occoquan river they use it in the singular, which would be 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 here.

I thought "y'all" was singular, and "all y'all" was plural.

This was explained to me just the other day, by a native of Austin. [1] Y'all is both singular and plural, just like you is in standard English. But, as singular, it may carry the connotation of "you and your folks". [2] All Y'all is definitely the plural of Y'all. [3] Y'all y'all is bad grammar.

It’s honestly wild that in 2025 the Coast Guard has to clarify that swastikas are not “divisive,” they’re hateful. This isn’t some deep philosophical puzzle. If your symbol requires a footnote explaining why it was the banner of genocide, the problem isn’t the journalists pointing it out. The problem is the people trying to normalize it. Trumpworld keeps saying the quiet part out loud, then gets angry that anyone heard them.
