I still work on equipment that had a design life of twenty years or so, and with regular care and feeding is still going strong thirty and forty years on.
Much of the stuff made in the last decade or two goes toes up fairly quickly and isn't worth the labor cost to repair.

You know what we really need is less regulation so these companies can grow the economy pollute like crazy.
This one hits home as I spent countless days and nights camping at Refugio when I still lived in California.
