The FDA has issued a warning to not eat any oysters or bay clams from Netarts Bay and Tillamook Bay, Oregon, harvested between May 26 and May 30, as they may be “contaminated with paralytic shellfish toxins.”

Mrs. JC likes oysters, so I forwarded this bit to her, and her response was, and I quote, "Well who eats May oysters anyway? Follow the rule of R, people."
This is my second most favorite gif, just behind the guy punching the lights out of an American Nazi. The woman is technically correct that by being never married she is marginally less like to be murdered by her spouse. At the same time she's getting the fish eye from her housekeeper, who is, of course, a woman of color. You can spend all day unwrapping the entitlement in that gif!
I can only assume that the significant reduction in violent crime is due to the hoards of immigrants that have crossed our boarder over the past few years. Every knows they commit crimes at a lower rate than native born Americans, right?
The argument has been made that removing the lead from gasoline a generation ago has produced a generation without lead poisoning and hence, less violence.
And also Antifa is razing our coastal-elite cities like Seattle and Portland to the ground on a nightly basis, forcing us to rebuild from ground up every morning. It is, frankly, growing tiresome.
Being allergic to all seafood, avoiding oysters is easy. But if those shellfish toxins jump species into the dairy cows that provide me with Tillamook cheeses and ice cream, I'ma need to speak to the manager.
But hang on, President Trump tells me that AMERICA IS A LAWLESS HELLSCAPE, where illegals roam wild, murdering and maiming the innocent white folks. Surely he couldn't be lying?
Newsweek would like everyone to know that, yeah, those are good crime stats but they're not real. Because reasons.
Let's look:
John Lott, the president of the nonprofit right-leaning Crime Prevention Research Center who held a brief role in the Dept. of Justice under former President Donald Trump, told Newsweek that the FBI statistics are incomplete at best.
"One thing that's happened over the last few years has been a collapse in the criminal justice system in this country," Lott said.
I had relatives with a house on the Chesapeake Bay who imparted this wisdom re Oysters -- do not eat them in a month without a "R" in its name. So no one should be eating oysters in May, June, July and August. Stay safe, mollusk aficionados.
What is violence? Taking away a women's right to an abortion can result in death, which is fucking violent. Accusing people of crimes, they haven't committed, and ruining their lives, is violence. Ostracizing LGBTQ + people in libraries and schools is violence towards a person's mental and sometimes physical health. Making people live under constant threat of violence, is violent in itself.
In some ways we're living in the most violent times in recent memory.
Last week I was in the (national chain) supermarket and they had oysters on sale. Signs said the small ones were $1 each and the larger ones were $12 for a dozen.

These oysters. Were they canned?
Ta, Robyn. It's nice we're experiencing less crime in the quotidian, and that you keep track of the crime still occurring.

I remember Kevin Drum writing about that a few years ago. It makes sense to me.
mmmmmMMMMMMmmm... paralytic shellfish toxins...
Jordan Peterson hasn't killed anyone.
Yet.
(Himself, I mean. There have been dozens where he was a contributing factor.
Wait, I thought all of America was overrun with illegals who are murdering us in our sleep and taking our jerbs and our womenfolk.

Everything else he's ever said has been so reliable and scientifically accurate!!
Portlander with a fondness for Netarts Bay oysters here. Uh....
Oh-oh. Aileen's comment ended abruptly. You don't think... shellfish neurotoxin?
just trying to remember when last I had raw oysters.

And now, for "balance", let's hear from some lying fucks...
Here's reality. And now, for "balance," are some lies.

No oysters? Well, canned clams it is then!

well, you can't sell them all at the same price. you don't want to confuse people.
