I thought it was the feeblist slogan I'd ever heard. But it's actually regarded as so belligerent! God. What if it was a really expressive, articulate thing like Black Battle or Black War?
"How our legislators have been allowed to vote against an anti-lynching law without any backlash…" It's not "our" legislators, it's their legislators. This is what the filibuster is for (well, it was originally to block anti-slavery bills, but the intent has been constant), to make sure that Senators from a minority of states representing even less of the population can still block anti-racist legislation without any recourse by the rest of us.
The filibuster needs to go. And it should take Manchinema with it. I say “our” to mean we are a single country. They might not be Dem legislators. They definitely get voted in by Republicans and granted outsized authority by our rigged system. But they are still US legislators. And because we all suffer when they make shit choices, we are unfortunately beholden to trying to persuade them to do otherwise, which places (unfairly) some of the responsibility on us.
OUR democracy, OUR government, OUR society, OUR nation has taken until 2022 to say lynching is a hate crime. That’s remarkable. And I don’t necessarily think we can negate systemic racism for its part either, and we all play a part in that. It’s the same thing with bodily autonomy, LGBTQ rights, and every other absurdly antiquated debate our bigoted society continues to indulge.
BTW, there are plenty of sickening negative reviews of Caste over at Amazon. Apparently it is part of "the Woke Agenda" and "distorts history." SMH
I have trouble comprehending the crowds, entire families with little kids, who would show up for them.
Same here.
Hanging is an American tradition. From the witches of Salem to Mike Pence with KKK taking up the time between, 'Murikkans love to watch them swing.
The ERA protects LGBTQ+ as well as women of every skin color.
I've said that every year since 1968.
But no rejecting the sperm. This is all about men's sperm, not women's civil rights.
They marched. Into the dogs and batons.
Hanging is how they killed witches in America. And horse thieves.
Wonder what got them all scared. Maybe it was that violent new Black organization you hear about, that burned all the cities to the ground.

"Unfortunately, racism runs faster than any Black person."
Great line. Couldn't upvote when I first read it.

If we could just get that done…
Oh, sure. She's gross. No question about that. I just don't think she did or said what the other commenter suggested.
