Trigonometric series remind me of the Fourier Transform, so I would guess the password is "HeatEquation" but maybe not. Joseph was a wild and crazy guy. You don't figure out stuff like that if you have Facebook to distract you. No sir not ever. Social media is therefore probably the end of all good science. Gee, I guess I better quit reading Wonkette and get back to work, huh? Except my WiFi stopped working...

I have a memory of my Uncle Red arguing with my mother-- his part was to claim that Black people were running a race and they were behind and that's just how it was. My mother said well you don't have a race with some runners starting from way behind the rest. For me, my mother was a very unkind creepy person but my Uncle Red saw past all other people's view to what really going on with me-- the opposite of how this makes them seem. He'd grown up in Northern New York where we all lived then. Once we were driving along and there were apparently migrant workers, black people who we actually rarely saw around there. We passed a young woman carrying a baby and a bundle of things down the road. Uncle Red was preoccupied with her-- shouldn't we give her a ride? He wondered how far it was to where she was going. He was the only one talking about her. His situation was that he talked about blacks and their 'deficiencies' just about the way men would talk about the weather. But really had barely seen any Black people, and when he did-- that was something altogether different.
