I love when liberals cry about the exact same shit they have been doing for 30 years.

It's probably been said here already, but "Oh, to have the confidence of a mediocre [at best] white man!"

fine with me if he and the people who admire him don't vote. Lots of them probably died of Covid, too. Luckily, Black people don't listen to this kind of BS from anyone. They know what they sacrificed to get the right to vote. As a woman whose grandma was in the suffrage movement, same for me.

Ugh, this guy's account is chock full of insults and lies. I work at a Michigan precinct and have been since 2020. First off, the "gray haired librarian women" tend to be the only people who step up to work the sixteen hour day. I don't see Edgelord up here volunteering.

Also, the election inspectors are not in the "turning away without cause" business. We have an electronic poll book with all the registered voters in our local precincts. If you're not in it, we'll direct you to the city clerk so you can register to vote and cast a ballot. We'd never want anyone leaving feeling confused or disenfranchised.

Also, Michigan is one of those states that makes it very easy and convenient to vote, thanks to our wonder woman SOS, Jocelyn Benson. So Rejected Arcade Fire member here can kick rocks. And so can the NY Times. Were it not for Jamelle Bouie and Wordle it'd be completely worthless.

What might "a merrier world" look like to fascists? I don't think we need to ask anymore; they're making it increasingly obvious with all their Project 2025s and their War Rooms and the other authoritarian play sets they so generously share.

"Why You Shouldn't Vote" (rough paraphrase) is such a baldly transparent scheme for achieving this that you'd think the NYT would be ashamed of platforming it. But when your interests align, what can you do?

I'm sure it'd be much "merrier" (that phrase gives me the icks) if we'd roll over and do what the nice men tell us. 🤮

Hope the authorities are checking his basement for any missing persons who live in a 100 mile radius of this guy. He looks like he has a “playroom” in his house.

Sorry......Brazil.......I confused it with the destination of most of the Nazi assholes after the war. I saw the movie when it came out......a MUCH younger man then........with a MUCH sharper memory......

I'm old enough to know what you meant and saw the hoops connecting you to the wrong country. Totally understandable! And "The Boys from Brazil" should be required reading, as should the exodus of Nazis to Argentina after WWII.

Twatwaffle. Someone described this guy as a twatwaffle. Perfect, because that's exactly what he is. Why should anyone care whether he votes, if he votes, who he votes for? More importantly, how desperate is the NYT that they allow this twatwaffle to vomit his crap all over their Opinion page?

Never mind, I think we already know the answer to that question.

I think it's a way for people to absolve their own guilt for not wanting to vote. Which is wrong because not voting says a lot about someone.

Ta, Gary. Liar, liar, pants on fire. Of course he votes (when he's not too much of an idiot to register where he lives); he just wants US not to vote.

So, basically his premise is that he's too lazy and stupid to figure out how to successfully vote, so he'd like everyone else to stop voting so he isn't constantly reminded of his, ahem, shortcomings.

Have I got that right?
