So the Washington Post says what? And who cares? They have become irrelevant.

Senator Booker was my 2020 choice. My friends found this "quirky." His Galahad moral fire rarely finds a way to show through the morass of the Senate's everyday work. But his constituents knew him well enough to draw it out of him, and he found a way that he made more perfect by the hour, and then the minute.

Strom Thurmond and his brainchildren need vanquishing again. Cory Booker showed he was just the man for that particular hour...after hour..after hour.

Corey for President. If we have to take up arms to kick Trump out of office, I'm there.

If the intent was to bump “Liberation Day” out of the news cycle tomorrow so TFG’s tariff whisper will sound extra stupid, slow clap.

Isn't this a Ted Cruz tribute act?

Somewhat like Ted & Green Eggs & Ham, a lengthy speech but no actual procedural impediment.

Irrelevant. And I don't mean his speech. See, for example, Jamoche's reference to 'sabotage for civilians,' below.

In the word association game, "record filibuster" brings up Strom Thurmond, not Ted Cruz.

Sabotage for civilians - demoralize the enemy, encourage the resistance.

Tying up government like this? Hell yeah. There's even an entry for it - aimed at people subjugated by an enemy, of course:

(11) General Interference with Organizations and Production

(a) Organizations and Conferences

(2) Make “speeches.” Talk as frequently as possible and at great length. Illustrate your “points” by long anecdotes and accounts of personal experiences. Never hesitate to make a few appropriate “patriotic” comments.

Any Republicans even in the room? SOP for those mofos is to pretend nothing is happening.

But when Booker was a-filibusterin', the Republicans weren't a-legislatin'. Ain't that right, Senator Fetterman?

Thrilled to report that Senator Booker is closing in on Strom Thurmond's record filibuster.

How absolutely fitting and lovely that a Black senator will beat the record of a racist who used it against the Civil Rights Act.

And a hypocrite who fathered a child with a black woman. Guess he thought they were good for only one thing...

I'd appreciate a citation for this assertion. The only one I could find in a quick Google search was from someone who posted on Reddit today saying he had read that.

I misunderstood your posting. I thought you were referring to Cory Booker. Yes, Strom Thurmon was a real piece of work.

Delighted to report Cory Booker, standing up for Democracy, has officially surpassed Ted Cruz yawping against the ACA. Fingers crossed he also bests Strom Thurmond yawping against the Civil Rights Act. Neither of those clowns deserves to be even a footnote to history.

And without resorting to Dr. Seuss (because unlike Cruz he's capable of constructing his own coherent paragraphs.)

I've been calling his office nearly every day since this nonsense started.

I gave them a call last night to thank him for doing this, because if I'm going to complain, I also need to support him when he does what I've asked for.

I appreciate the explanation of how this works. I did not understand the result of this, thought it was just political theatre, but I see that holding up the Republican agenda is important. Good for Booker!!
