Slow charging is better than no charging. It's a great idea, and doesn't require massive changes in electrical systems. and at 10 to 20 cents a a kWh, the provider of the charge isn't bearing such a burden. As to the tax credit - it isn't as easy to get now, and we just bought a new EV that wasn't eligible for (from a US car company), but the pricing was fine. We are quite happy - but also have a garage with its own electrical panel and service...

I just bought a Nissan Leaf, which is notoriously slow-charging with the "slow-charge" (J122?) device. However, it's perfect for me. My plan is that when I want to go any distance, like visiting my daughters in Minneapolis or Bozeman (I'm in Chicago), I'll rent an old-fashioned gas-powered car.

Apartheid fElon will never "corner the domestic EV market". For 2 reasons.

One, he's a giant prick who can't concentrate on any one thing in business long enough to be actually good at it.

Two, where there is money to be made, people will find a way to undercut him.

The Chinese opening manufacturing facilities in places that are "not China" and which owe them due to that giant "roads and bridges" project (or whatever their foreign policy program is called) is one way that will happen. The Chinese are making good little EVs and hybrids and would eat Tesla's lunch if the playing field was level ... and they are not above taking steps to MAKE it level when it isn't.

“ In the statement, Hegseth lawyer Timothy Parlatore said his client had agreed to pay an undisclosed amount to the woman because he feared that revelation of the matter “would result in his immediate termination from Fox”.”

So, too toxic for FOX “News” is just right for Sec. of Defense under the proven rapist Trump.

Checks out

Admittedly, I don't understand how these thins work - but would it be possible to make portable chargers for car batteries? And then just make plugs available?

Although his market share is decreasing, Musk already has 48% of US EV sales. The market for EV sales is the opposite of MAGA, so I think the best thing trump could do for Musk in the long run is leave office. Sigh, of course no feasible.

Putting EV chargers everywhere is a great idea, but who’s paying? No mention of that in the article. Seems adding a payment device would increase costs.

Has anyone else noticed that the audio on SNL is so bad the last couple of weeks that show is unwatchable? Did their A1 retire and they are letting an intern run it now ? it's total shit now, you can't hear the cast over the audience , the musical guests' vocals are garbled. I can't believe they haven't gotten complaints.

"It’s enough to make a nerd reach for a theme song: [Slow Ride, by Foghat]"

A confessed music nerd here, I can't even think of another Foghat title, but this song was funny in that Richard Linklater movie. (Not sure why the entirety of it has to occupy 8+ minutes; I bailed pretty quick.)

I did like that album cover where the guy is fishing in the city out of a manhole.
