Now is the time to put your life's savings into TrumpCoin!

Madame Grumpe and I heard the claim that Joe Biden was responsible for the 40 trillion debt on the radio while we were driving yesterday. Oh how we laughed and laughed. Good thing there wasn't a cliff nearby.

I think you've mixed up bond prices and bond rates a few times in the text there.

Bond prices go *up* when rates go *down*, and vice versa. If it helps, think of the rate as a discount -- at 4% rate you'd pay $96 to purchase $100 a year from now.

Buying up bonds raises the _price_ (just like buying up anything else), which lowers the _rate_.

Although that mechanism can shift into sudden reverse if it makes bond buyers think you're an idiot: Bonds issued by idiots have to have a _lower price_ ("a fool and his money are soon parted" being the relevant maxim) and so must have a _higher rate_ -- you need a bigger discount to convince sensible people to touch them ("don't stick your dick in crazy" being the corresponding saying).

Are these the some people that have been in a fauxrage high dudgeon about cancer survivor Natalie being somehow besmirched by the mere mention of her name? And yet, every fucking thing they've fucked up, they run a guy who's currently fighting cancer through their mud? Those people? Fuck them.

I get outraged with the Blame Biden Bullshit. People who blame everybody else for their failures should be immediately and thoroughly ostracized from any kind of authority.

MRK's avatar

It's particularly galling in this case, when Trump instituted his fucking tariffs immediately and started a war before we even got to the midterms. You don't get to make major changes and still claim it's the last guy's fault.

paperlesstiger's avatar

Biden's term was still under the Trump tax cuts for the wealthy, which would have expired if Democrats held power. No way they were going to let that happen.

Hah. That always worked at the Pill Factory. A former manager I worked for rode that horse to 3rd in command there.

The debt is at $40 trillion, I have explosive diarrhea, my kids have measles, my son has been deployed for over 7 months, I can’t afford groceries and ICE is shoooting people in the streets. But Jon Ossoff’s attacks on Natalie Harp make me feel uneasy so I’m not sure who I’m going to vote for in November.

Government budget expert speaking. In a financial crisis, you eventually reach a point where the crisis dictates behavior. This means that fairly soon, our national hand will be forced to do something drastic, and hopefully for the better.

If the recent study is correct and Medicare for All would save $1 trillion a year, we could pay down the debt in less than half a century without changing any other stupid thing we do.

So we wouldn't have to deport all GeeOhPeers to Ebola-rich Congo?

Genuinely at this point it feels like the before part of a horror story about an unhinged love affair before the murders start.

That must be what she apologized for, in one of her love letters to her beloved:

Dear Mr. President,

I’m sorry. I thought I was the only one left behind last night, and had no idea Margo’s car was also pulled over, and sent back to the Airport. Since I was alone in the van outside Customs without my passport, I panicked, and should have just called Secret Service instead of you. I also am sorry if I was an embarrassment walking the course in Scotland. The first day I was told there were no carts, and people walked, which is why I walked. The second day, I was specifically asked by, I forget who his name was, but one of the main people who worked there, if I could continue walking, and tell any other girls who would head out there to do the same to spare the Course any more Carts. If there is anything else I have done to cause you trouble, please forgive me. I know that some people have said I haven’t been texting them back, and there have been some International cell issues (John was having technical issues on the Plane too, so asked me to help him out).

I want things to always be right between us. I also know I’ve been distracted all week (forgetting to eat throughout the days, and even forgetting to sleep, and only catching a couple hours at a time). I haven’t been myself, dwelling on the Past, and the pain of losing my Dad, and I started letting the remarks of people who haven’t bothered me before, get to me—not because I care what others think, but because I see myself being lowered in your eyes and good opinion. That is the fear you see, because I never want to bring you anything but joy. I’m sorry I lost my focus. You are all that matters to me. I don’t want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life—That’s what I wanted to use this card for, when you saw me at the Cash Register, and once again did what you didn’t have to do, and gifted me with Mementos of this Trip of a Lifetime, a Coming of Age. I will return a better person. I have to sign off now, as the cars are leaving. See you soon.

With all my heart.

Natalie.
