What a rookie, you get the 16 oz beer and they offer a shot for $2. Plus why isn't this jagoff in the Airline Lounge sucking down free booze? Don't tell me his corporate travel policy is coach only? HAHAHA!
I has a double cheeseburger with fries, and an ice tea, in South Carolina, NOT in an airport, and my meal was about $27 with tip. If you're sucking down scotch, yeah, that's going to cost you, especially at an airport where they know you need alcohol.
This goes to show what kind of a clueless, entitled shithead David Brooks is. Now, remember: This is what passes for a conservative intellectual. Pause and think about that for a second. This turd is what passes for a conservative intellectual (it’s worth repeating it.)
I just did some math. It must have been at least 4, maybe 5 double whiskeys. Even with a meal in me, 8 or 10 ounces of whiskey would keep me from finding my ass with both hands. How did he make it to the plane?
Airport drinks are overpriced, usually around $15 although it does not cost much to upgrade to a double. Still, he is a whiny little bitch, because we all know how expensive it is at the airport. You are literally a captive audience. But I would be more annoyed about the low water pressure in the water fountains at Laguardia and the high price of bottled water, since they take your water at TSA.
Definitely overpriced, so that means I would have to make it to the plane on only 6 oz of whiskey. Okay, I could probably do that. Not sure I would remember it though.
There are so sad inconvenient way to get someplace fast, but 9/11 really took it up several notches. And now the airlines can't schedule on time and the courtesy component has all but disappeared. People just have no shame about acting like assholes any more. I guess it's about clicks.
"We have all done dumb shit when drunk.'' which is just one of many reasons I do not drink alcohol.
Regarding the burger price, I go to Five Guys and I usually get a Bacon Burger (which has two patties), large fries, and small soda (as you can get refills for free, why buy the large?), and that comes to just over $20. Not surprising prices in airports are not cheap.
It's time to make "THis is why Americans think the economy is terrible" the new "this is the world the liberals want."
The D. Brooks special is only available at the Trenton location because the rent is too damn high at the airport! https://www.nj.com/entertainment/2023/09/nj-restaurant-at-center-of-david-brooks-viral-78-newark-airport-meal-running-1778-special.html?outputType=amp
I gave up my NYTIMES subscription because of Brooks’ column back in the 90’s. Saved a lot of money & exasperation.
You got screwed Brooks. No Brioche bun? No kosher pickle? And that ain't EVEN Heinz catsup......and only 3 packs!?!?!? $12.75 tops......
Brioche buns are the Anti-Christ, imho.
He obviously never listened to this,, even though he's a useless fking boomer, as I am as well.

Ta, Gary. I recall a better Brooks. Her name was Louise.
"Tune in next week when he discovers fire."
Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down there. Let's not go rushing into things like that!
Are we sure this wasn't just an attempt to get a raise out of the Times?

Had to travel coach? Made me laugh out loud 🤣
I am willing to bet he stiffed his server also and has never been decent to the working class in his entire life.
Just a hunch

I'll look for them too

Considering he’s up against F*cker Carlson et al … vs the deplorable crowd.
I can’t get past that he thinks the price of a meal at Newark airport is something that’s on the mind of the average American.
I can't get over that he used this "meal" for a cheap shot at Biden.
(So sick of this disingenuous nonsense.)
Legum gets kudos from me for using the word "wicked" correctly

So $17 for the burger and fries and $60 for booze. That's 4 drinks at $15 each. He's not including the tip (because he didn't tip).
On his hands, knees, and chin? With pictures to follow, I'm hoping.
