Even the most casual reader of the Intertubes is aware that former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-DEADBEAT) is pretty much one of the worst people in the history of ever. (Yes, yes, we know: Hitler, Stalin, and Dick Cheney are much worse and belong in their own category of Even Worse Than Joe Walsh.)
IMO, what makes him a bad person is that he is NOT unaware. He seems to be a willful asshole. He strives to be a bad person, and succeeds pretty well.
Re: "blah", I think it depends, like everything, on context.
The universe of offensive "misstatements" and subsequent walkbacks is quite large, and is fertile ground for snark. A neatly placed "blah" can still be quite effective in such a context.
it's pretty amazing. when i read walsh's crap, i realize all the secret / sotto voce things old white bigots (my 83 year old drunk uncle, jimmy kimmel's crazy aunt, pat buchanan...) have been saying in private since like the 60's are now - for the right - fullly expressed and out there and ok to say.
Many conservatives, including the editors at NRO, missed the FACT that the civil rights movement was all about conservative principles. Just like women's rights, and, if you give them 50 years, gay rights.

And that he was, as you mention, a motherfucking Member of the Congress of the United States.

But as with any trope, it can be overused.
human-esque
I see Lester in Mississippi Burning, dropped off in the black end of town...
"I have a dream that young unmarried black women will say “no” to young black men who want to have sex."
Because Joe has only EVER had sex within the confines of Christian marriage, amirite?
I have a dream that corporate America will take responsibility for improving their own balance sheets (without wingnut welfare).
That's not racial transcendence.
And I can't believe I'm apparently the first to point this out.

on this good day of celebration i haz a sad.
The really amazing thing about Walsh? Some agreed to mate with him.
"Let me buy you a cup of dick, Joe."
Well, that was nice! Who doesn't like a horrible shit-print splatted on history?
Thanks for your concern-trolling, there Joe. Those Coloreds will love you for it!
The worst part is, there is probably a really good chance he thinks he's doing good here.
Nah, leave his sorry ass in Michigan-Martin or up in Chaldean Town.
I have a dream people will quit twisting Dr. King's beliefs to fit their own agendas.
He needs to be the 2014 face of a Birth Control ad campaign.
