IMO, what makes him a bad person is that he is NOT unaware. He seems to be a willful asshole. He <i>strives</i> to be a bad person, and succeeds pretty well.

Re: "blah", I think it depends, like everything, on context.

The universe of offensive "misstatements" and subsequent walkbacks is quite large, and is fertile ground for snark. A neatly placed "blah" can still be quite effective in such a context.

But as with any trope, it can be overused.

it's pretty amazing. when i read walsh's crap, i realize all the secret / sotto voce things old white bigots (my 83 year old drunk uncle, jimmy kimmel's crazy aunt, pat buchanan...) have been saying in private since like the 60's are now - for the right - fullly expressed and out there and ok to say.

Many conservatives, including the editors at NRO, missed the FACT that the civil rights movement was all about conservative principles. Just like women's rights, and, if you give them 50 years, gay rights.
