I'm so tired of hearing about "regular people" in the hinterlands having some special powers of "patriotism" when that is almost always a cover for being racist misogynist homophobic xenophobes.

And her veterinarian even oppresses her with signs in their office

I deeply pity any pets owned by the Thomases. I assume whenever one of them has an accident, Clarence accuses them of committing a high tech lynching, while Ginni quietly rants at them for the rest of their lives that they owe her husband an apology.

I've quoted my grandmother around these parts before, but when I read and hear about these two I can hear her voice, "Well there's somebody for everybody."
