It seems that now and again a block doesn't get stress-relieved properly, and after a while it stress-relieves itself radially along the long axis. The heads too, from time to time.Damned if I know why British ancillaries are so trouble-prone, though if you hang around old British mechanics you will eventually hear the phrase, 'Joseph Lucas, Prince of Darkness.' It's well-earned.I've seen the sump trick before - drag racers use it a lot. But drag racers don't buy their fuel from Donnie's Discount Gas, or let their tanks rust. I wonder now if the design was something left over from happier (ie C-type and D-type) days?
