AOC And 'The Squad': Focus On Trump's Racist Bullsh*t Policy, Not His Racist Bullsh*t Tweets

It's like they're skilled politicians or something!

  (Cute update appended. No, really!) Not long after Donald Trump doubled down on his racist rant telling them to Love Trumpmerica or Leave It, the four Democratic congresswomen Trump would like to run against in 2020 held a presser of their own to remind America Trump's playing a losing game, because he's a loser. Again and again, they pointed out that getting bogged down in the details of Trump's racist tweets is a distraction from the actual harm his policies are doing. And then the media went straight back to discussing the "feud" between Trump and the four first-term Democrats, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib.

Here are the four -- do we have to call them "The Squad"? -- kicking ass and pointing where we need to look. Which, as we may have mentioned, is not at the ass that just got kicked, because ew, nobody wants to see that.

Rep. Pressley briefly demonstrated she can meet insult with insult, calling Trump the "occupant" of the White House, nothing more, then saying it's not surprising he'd attack women of color, since that's really his brand. But the attacks we need to be more worried about are those on all people of color, particularly immigrants, who Trump wants to run against in 2020. Referring to the squalid conditions in Border Patrol stations, Pressley said, "At the end of the day, if we improve the conditions of children in a cage, they are still in a cage."

Pressley said that while Trump was trying to make an issue of whether she and her colleagues love America enough (or the right way), this isn't about the four women at the podium:

We are more than four people. We ran on a mandate to advocate for and to represent those ignored, left out, and left behind. Our squad is big. Our squad includes any person committed to creating a more equitable and just world.

Fine, fine, Squad it is.

Ilhan Omar called attention to Trump's history of racist statements, but she inaccurately said Trump had said people, not the entire countries they came from , were shitholes, so obviously Trump Wins, according to a rando blogger at Ben Shapiro's Internet Tendency:

Dude got a whole column out of nitpicking the point -- Trump didn't say ALL black athletes, just those who think cops killing black people is bad! Get it right! (This is not a verbatim summary.)

Ocasio-Cortez remembered a childhood trip to Washington DC with her father, who took in all the monuments and told her all of it, and the power to make decisions about what kind of country this is, belonged to her as an American. (See? He was plotting her seizing control even then!)

What I want to tell children across this country is that no matter what the president says, this country belongs to you. And it belongs to everyone.  And today that notion, that very notion was challenged. This weekend that very notion was challenged. So I am not surprised when the president says that four sitting members of Congress should, quote, 'go back to their own country' when he has authorized raids without warrants on thousands of families across this country.

We see what she did there, even though of course the Usual Suspects will insist that the people being raided have no rights, just as Ocasio-Cortez relinquished her rights when she spoke against President Barstool.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib repeated the call to focus on what Trump is doing, and "to hold this administration accountable" for his inhuman policies, not his general nastiness. The nastiness is just always going to be with us anyway, she noted: "Sadly, this is not the first nor will it be the last time that we hear disgusting, bigoted language form the president."

In the Q & A that followed, Pressley repeated that the real news isn't that Donald Trump said something racist, it's that he's doing racist things that need to be opposed. Omar parried a remarkably stupid question asking her if she disagreed with Trump's insistence that she supports "Alcaida," noting that Muslims hear demands to distance themselves from terrorists about as often as they're told to go back where they came from, so there's no need to dignify the question.

In reply to another question, Omar got right to the essence of the whole damn "you can love America and want to make it better" thing, arguing that everything the four have said comes from their love for the country, like a grownup. She also pointed out it was some other person whose entire 2016 strategy depended on saying America was a terrible place, and that the American dream was dead.

Ocasio-Cortez chimed in on that point, noting that Trump can't make a good argument for his policies, so instead he accuses his opponents of disloyalty, the oldest dumb trick in the book, and could we maybe not fall for it when an idiot yells, "LOOK! ENEMIES WITHIN! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!"

Then Trump tweeted pretty much exactly that and the Great National Dialogue continued.
