Ta, Crip Dyke. Sigh. The EEOC was new when my late mother headed it for the Philadelphia region of USPS (her office was in Trenton NJ). I. Just. Can't.
Today, I participated in a four hour online training. Our subject was Sexual Health. The trainer made sure to tell us that our state (NY) including the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, is standing up for LGBTQIA and will continue to do so. Part of the training is a 16 paragraph Bill of Sexual Rights. I wish it could be enacted and codified into law worldwide, because trans rights are human rights, always and forever.
I keep expecting the next shoe to drop. We know, just like the Nazis, Krasnov has tremendous disdain for the disabled. Already he’s blamed airline accidents on people with disabilities. My gut tells me rolling back rules under the Americans With Disabilities Act is imminent.
Having never had any desire to create hell for anyone, I can't understand why anyone wants to create hell for trans people. Why does anyone want to create hell for anyone? What is the motivation, other than a portion of the population has not evolved past the "mean monkey" stage.
The GOP’s anti-trans hysteria keeps metastasizing, even as federal protections crumble under sheer neglect. A single blocked bill in the Senate doesn’t mean trans people are safe when red states are rolling out laws criminalizing existing while trans. Texas wants to jail you for listing your gender correctly, Iowa just erased gender protections, and Montana is one bad vote away from policing people’s genitals in bathrooms. The government doesn’t need to pass new laws to make life hell for trans people—it just has to stop enforcing the ones that protect them.
"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) broke on Thursday with his party’s general stance on transgender girls and women in sports, agreeing with right-wing pundit Charlie Kirk that their participation is “deeply unfair.”
The 71-minute conversation turned to transgender identity when Newsom asked Kirk for “some advice” for the Democratic Party, as it appears to be flailing in the wake of President Donald Trump’s November victory.
“You, right now, should come out and be like, you know what, the young man who’s about to win the state championship in the long jump in female sports — that shouldn’t happen. You as the governor should step up and say no,” Kirk said, referring to an Arizona high school junior.
The governor did not correct his guest when he referred to trans girls and women repeatedly as “young men.” Newsom instead piped up to agree with Kirk, saying, “I think it’s an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness. It’s deeply unfair.” He cited his role as a father of two daughters. “I revere sports, and so the issue of fairness is completely legit,” Newsom said. He went on to tell Kirk that Democrats were getting “crushed, crushed” on the concept of transgender athletes.
“I saw that, the last couple years, boy did I [see] how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level,” Newsom said of Republicans. Kirk pushed back on the word “weaponize,” prompting Newsom to agree it was “pejorative” and to suggest “highlight” instead. The governor then talked up his pioneering stance on gay marriage and general support for the LGBTQ+ community, suggesting Republicans were punching down by attacking transgender people, a small minority group, so viciously. But he also distinguished the issue of transgender athletes from other LGBTQ+ rights.
Newsom posed a question: “How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think, you know, is inherent in you but is not expressed on the issue?”"
NPR had an interview this morning germane to this discussion. The parent of a trans teen discussed their experience under the new Iowa regime. I’ll link to the whole thing below. The dad said some stuff we say around here a lot, like if they really wanted to protect women, the abysmal maternal mortality rate is right there.
But one thing he said really got me: “If our rights are not rights for everyone, they are simply privileges that are granted to in-groups.”
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are the principles which form the bedrock of the American spirit If you are opposed to those principles you cannot all yourself an "American" There should be no need for policies specifying such. It should be an automatic assumption by every American.
Yes, I realize that, in the past some people were excluded, but the exclusions were a natural part of societal norms at the time, and must be viewed in historical context. Appropriate measures were taken over time to adjust to changing societal norms, and we took the necessary steps to ensure that nobody was "excluded". Those steps cannot be erased by Presidential EO.
WE all belong to the same "protected class". There are no exclusions based upon anything. ALL citizens have the same rights and protections under the Constitution..

This is indeed part of the point of these unreconstructed state regimes of terrorism, and the weak federalism of the United States allows this by design. That's one of the reasons it's always important to vote up and down the ballot because unfortunately in a colonial construction like the United States, civil rights are ALWAYS on the ballot. It's a horrible situation but it's impossible to count on the fundamental goodness of people.
They have to be dragged kicking and screaming into reality and goodness when it contrasts with their preferences and prejudices.
I never thought a corner had been turned. I just figured that it would delay the Repugs a little as they regrouped and went looking for some more RW Dems to help them out.
Seriously, is a masculine-looking, biologically female person who gets pulled over going to have to flash their vag at the officer to "prove" that their ID marked "F" applies? Would officers be trained to know the difference between one formed in-utero v. one formed surgically? Will officers get to pull over any person of their choosing (hot sorority sister-types) for genital inspection just because they feel like it? Are they going to have random gender stops where everyone has to have genital inspections?

If MAGA wants to eliminate gender-affirming care, they can start with outlawing Viagra and other boner pills.
Trans people are the Jews of the new American Nazi state. Not a joke!
Oh, the Nazis had a history with trans people too.
I keep expecting the next shoe to drop. We know, just like the Nazis, Krasnov has tremendous disdain for the disabled. Already he’s blamed airline accidents on people with disabilities. My gut tells me rolling back rules under the Americans With Disabilities Act is imminent.
I hope you're wrong, but I won't hold my breath.

And that’s the whole ball of wax right there.

GOP and Evangelical hogwash to feed the MAGA base a healthy diet of hate. Keep your focus on this...

There's been a weirdly high level of jubilation from trans people on the internet. Not from all, of course, but still. Weirdly high. Weirdly many.
One act is not enough to restore trust.
it would even include a tourist just showing a home state driver’s license to a cop who asks for their ID.
That would leave up to the good judgement of every Texas law officer. What could go wrong? hah hah ha! *starts drinking heavily*

That is going to create new categories of disturbing porn.
And, of course, the whole "charged with a crime" is now justification for being deported if you're a migrant - or if ICE *thinks* you're a migrant.
And I'm sure people inspired by transphobia NEVER mistake random folds in clothing for genitalia.
