Why are so many people trying to make hay about him not having a policy with UH? Seems to me he wanted to make a statement by cutting the ugliest head off the Hydra.

OK well let's talk about housing and zoning restrictions. Guess who is all in favor of those restrictions? Certainly not the consumers of housing. Again, as usual, it's captured regulatory agencies by the worst players in whatever industry you with to choose.

A lot more people need to get acquainted with Murc's Law and how the vigilantism is going to play out. Look at how media will frame things too. It will be blamed on either Democrats (Because the ACA is a signature law of theirs) or that Democratic-aligned people are cheering for CEOs to be hurt and thus deserve reprisals.

And also note...Americans elected the guy with "concepts of a plan" to replace the ACA/Obamacare, because a lot of them believed that Obamacare was only for Black people and they wanted to cut that. They didn't care that they were hurting themselves.

Because when it's called something else a lot of them are perfectly happy with it.

So again don't look for any long-term accountability for health insurance companies at least with the political environment we've set up.

Also remember that phrase, especially in light of the celebration of Penny, Rittenhouse, the January 6 terrorists, et al.

"We can't do what they do."

speaking as a white chick who's worked with the ACA since 2013...

-as we promoted the shit out of it and went to a million libraries and high school gyms and town halls sometimes with jan schakowsky and even dick durbin and the fucking website was crashing on a daily basis and no one could get enrolled and fucking andy slavitt saved our asses-

and i was trying to sign up an extended family of 3 generations and when we actually did - we did! - the patriarch said 'did i win?'.

and he broke my heart. and we won. and i will NEVER stop caring about this (and still do it, pro bono).

Was it the left or right that called it Obamacare at first?

It was the right, using it as a pejorative. (The law was designed to be the Affordable Care Act, trying to take cues from good legislative naming). The name was meant to tie it to Obama and take advantage of racial animus.

Democrats did do their best to reclaim it but we don't have a rightwing media human centipede. So here we are.

IT WAS REPUBLICANS.

You can look it up.

It was exactly for the reasons Seth enumerates here -- so White voters' racism would override their common sense.

Textbook propaganda manipulating peoples' emotions so they would vote against their own interests, which the Republicans learned how to do from the Russians.

Remember that (taxpayer-funded) trip Ron Johnson and Rand Paul and those took to Moscow -- and almost nobody asked what they did or who they met or what they were told or what they were up to ..?

Except for the pundit class, right and left adored. at least for a little while longer, Mangione. And I hate to bring this guy up again, but the right loves Daniel Penny. I haven't read anybody actually say, "I wish I could get away with killing a homeless N*", but I feel the sentiment is strong there. As a guy who actually enjoys reading FICTIONAL costumed vigilantes, for at least a little while I'm going to feel guilty reading about Batman and Spider-Man, although both those worthies are vocal about their "no-killing" rule.

As for Luigi, when I hear online the clicking of Madame DeFarge's knitting needles, all I can think of is that nobody came out of the French Revolution ahead except Napoleon. (There's a guillotine joke in there somewhere, but I'm not rummaging for it).

Idk… listen…

Y’all aren’t having just a LIL fun? I’m not saying I condone it - but, it’s kind of like cocaine - it’s bad and wrong, and I definitely wouldn’t want my kid doing it…. Tsk tsk. Awful.

But, this is all kinda fun. Sweaty, distressed Peter Thiel is fun. Getting along with conservatives I grew up with is kind of fun. Sharing this moment with others is kind of fun.

And, much like cocaine, the whole thing really has people talking. And… it kind of seems like everybody has been negatively impacted. So…

A Woman Moved To A Blue State For The First Time And Is Calling Out The "Stark Differences" Between Living In A Republican Vs. Democrat-Leaning Area

A 32-year-old woman recently moved to a blue state for the first time, sparking discussions about "blue state privilege" and the significant differences between Democrat and Republican-leaning states in the US. In a recent TikTok, Lindsey (@officialnancydrew) talked about her experience moving to a blue state after only living in red states — Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas. In the video, which has over 600K views, she begins by talking about moving to Minnesota and how different it is, thus introducing the topic of "blue state privilege." "Y'all have it soooo much better here," she wrote in the caption.

Sadly, serious discussion of the broken US healthcare delivery system doesn't reach the major media until something drastic occurs, like a CEO assassination. Keeping the momentum up for regulating healthcare insurers or getting national health is very difficult, and there are media organizations whose job it is to counter that momentum.
