And yet I was in this country at the same time and was not fooled by the Russo-Republican liars. No, it's the dumbass voters - including alleged 'Progressives' who were too anti-HRC to pull their heads out of their asses to see the lies that 1) supported Bernie to the bitter end and 2) voted for Trump and are responsible for the current disasters.

I'm afraid it's all we have. And in November we will see.

According to a Latvian official on NPR this morning, the Baltic states have been dealing with and trying to warn the west about Russian meddling and fuckery for years.

He said one of the main aims was to sow discord during the elections and show how poorly "democracy" works. The goals are to legitimize Putin's own elections, keep the west concerned with issues at home instead of abroad, and hopefully get the old Eastern Block come back to the dependable Russian system.

As the say people and investors like predictability. It doesn't matter if it could be better or worse than it is, as long as they are reasonably sure of what tomorrow will be like.

As we have seen, the stock market is riding high because Trump and Congress haven't actually done anything. It wasn't until the tarriff issue that you've really seen any volatility in the market.

I agree with your sentiment. It is not productive to shit on all our leaders because they don’t press forward like they know everything. They even use caution.

The part where I understand people’s frustration with Obama’s action on this is that every time he overestimated the humanity of the GOP, he was proven wrong. After seven plus years of their bullshit, he should have assumed everybody all the way back to Bob Dole was a Russian plant.

Of course, that’s easy to say from my job delivering boxes of food. My hardest decision is which road to take, and which side of the truck to load the canned goods on. I sleep pretty well at night knowing that nobody is going to die because the fruit loops and the green beans were in the passenger side.

Isn't it a wee more logical to assume Trump cried "rigged" to get the windfall of denials? His own credibility was shit from day one. I shuttered when Hillary and the talking dem heads hastily defended the vote. Still do. Hearing trustworthy knowledgeable people deny the obvious (Russian meddling aka systems breach) is maddening.

No election integrity investigation, no evidence, no crime. Trump and Russia knew that. If talks of shady election results come up just blame Mexicans and pick a guy with a racist voter suppression agenda to head a half-ass (lack of) investigation. Dems will do the rest! While I hate to admit it the hard line on this particular subject has been both stable and genius.

I think what we need to do is stop being polite. We don’t have to play dirty, we just have to call them on everything at every step. Shout every inconsistency from the rooftop. When the GOP pulls some bullshit like saying our plan doesn’t include mindless allegiance to Israel, while theirs mentions no other ally but Israel, we tell them to add all the other allies to their list, and then go Fuck themselves with that same list. We don’t let them dictate our narrative anymore. It’s ridiculous that the DNC actually does things based on what the GOP serves them. They should be making their own plan and smack the GOP with it like the hookers they are. I know the Dems aren’t angels, but they are fucking Seraphim compared to those shit licking ass clowns. They need to take the high road in action, start working on proaction instead of reaction, and take every chance to trumpet the craven, cynical, and basically evil actions of the GOP.

Pretty awful if that’s what held him back. But I think more likely they feared the backlash of gibberish from the right. Which was a mistake. Because it plays into their hands.

My take on this is that now that we are faced with a completely useless government, people are taking their problems into their own hands and speaking up. I don’t think government is useless, but our current one is. Hell, just seeing how fucked up our leadership currently is inspired me to get back to being more independent. We plan to grow our own food and I am back to repairing things myself instead of giving my money away so I can get fat and lazy. People are making a riotous noise because they know this current federal lineup will do less than shit about our real problems. Much as I hate the burn it all down concept, it does weed out the weasels apparently, and it makes us remember where our fight is.

"every time he overestimated the humanity of the GOP"

And I say this was close to never. Obama negotiated with the Republicans because their numbers made it necessary, not because he was a brain-dead Pollyanna who had never read a newspaper in his life. Obama was smarter and better-informed than pretty much any of us, on top of which Washington DC intrigue was his day job; if we noticed that Republicans were a wee bit obstructionist, you can be sure he did too.

Beyond that, Obama was a black man in America. Show me a black male who can't detect unreasoning hatred coming from white shitheels, and I'll show you a black male who probably doesn't make it to 20.

Obama's question was what to do about Republicans. Now he didn't have the power to just ignore them most of the time, so he had to engage with them ... and he chose to do so by taking the high road. It didn't work very often, but I don't think his trying to out-tough them (with nothing to back it up) would have worked either. And you can bet that it would have given Republicans exactly what they wanted: strong evidence that the black man in the Oval Office was not in control of himself. (The Left, of course, would have backed up the Republicans, because nobody loves to stab their allies in the back more than the Left.)

Neither. The solution is intelligent people giving enough of a shit to vote. The Republicans' power in Washington is just a symptom of the core problem of public apathy.

I am more than aware that he knew what he was doing. I don’t need that lecture if you read my last paragraph. My point is that some point you have to realize that polite politics is losing, and at some point you have to become the anger translator, because they already have you portrayed as him in the media anyway.

The only thing I have to point to is that Trump is president. Can’t say I would have done better, but I haven’t even run for President. Criticism is fair game, that’s what happens when you want to be the most powerful person in the world. If we think that being party first is okay, maybe we will just saddle up with China to steal the next few elections and beat the Republicans at their own game. Long as we won. Yes lefties are a pissy bunch. It ain’t easy doing the right thing against hucksters. But if we are going to keep worrying about what the GOP says about our actions, we may as well crawl up in our safe spaces and program trigger warnings into our communication devices like they say we want. Not much point in worrying about what they say. They make most of it up. We need to do what’s right no matter how bad it triggers their pedophile family values, their 2A sensibilities, or their deeply held religious bigotry.

I never said Obama was uninformed, I just said he was too patient with petulant children.

Right, because it ALWAYS goes well when black men express frustration and anger. Bear in mind that there is racism on the Left too (they're just more surreptitious about it), and Obama lowering himself to anger would cut into his support among liberals. And he wouldn't even gain anything in the process.
