One might think that the Le Pen family, a family consisting of entirely terrible people, would get along famously. That their shared bond of being the actual worst ever would bring them together rather than tearing them apart. Alas, nothing could be further from the truth,
Only the party name was changed."CNN's Amanpour Invokes Nazi Germany in Loss for French 'Extreme Far Right' Le Pen."
On Monday's New Day, as CNN's Christiane Amanpour informed viewers of the French presidential election results, she twice tagged defeated conservative candidate Marine Le Pen as "extreme" and "far right," and also charged that she campaigned on "fear and hatred and loathing."
She's undoubtedly a racist and a populist. Speaking as a Frenchman who's watched French politics for 35 years, I am not sure that if in power she would go as far as the Italian fascists, and I am definitely convinced that she would be nothing like the Nazis.
With all due respect to Mrs Amanpour, whom I remember as a young special envoy during the first gulf war, she is not particularly expert on France, and any comparison of Marine Le Pen to Nazi Germany is more than hyperbole.
She wants or claims to want to make brown people second-class citizens. Which is despicable but not in the same class as wanting to exterminate or even just expel them.In addition I think she would be bound in her policies by a number of safeguards in the French and European systems, which she could not touch without losing her popular base. Le Pen voters are not Trumptard, and French racism is not as vicious as American racism, although that's probably not visible to an outsider. I guess this is where, as you say, the heritage and lesson of Nazi occupation is deeply ingrained in France.
Hitler did not say anything about wanting to exterminate or even just expel Jews either when running for Chancellor of Germany. Wanting to make brown people second-class citizens is a slippery slope towards persecution. Don't ever think it can't happen again. Be vigilant.
Hitler's program already stated that Jews would be excluded from citizenship in 1920. His racial theories were detailed in Mein Kampf in the mid-20s. Nazi brutality was in full display well before the 1933 elections. Comparing Le Pen to Hitler is quite a stretch.
Le Pen appealed to the fearful. Trump has done the same in America and his approval is approx 35%.
Especially for Nazis that stink of Putin.
Le Pen has been around since 1956. I think any relationship is a matter of objective common interests rather than shilling.
I'm starting to think the "Crazification Factor" once stated to be 27% is now at 35%. That is scary.......
I think it will start going down again, hopefully...
Why would anyone, especially in France want Nazis?
Who said that?
Nazism is a form of Fascism.https://www.commondreams.or...
Yes, but who said people in France wanted Nazis ? While i'm sure Le Pen's policies would be bloody awful, she's still miles away from the Nazi league.

I'd like to see them deeply renew themselves, if you know what I mean.
Le Pen wanted to get elected president based on fear, nationalism, and racism. What was so different?
