It sounds like from this post that almost 1,000 kids are accounted for and are being helped. What about the other 3-4,000 kids that were separated from families over a two year period?!? I hate this math.

Nightmare: baby separated from parents grows up adopted in a christofascist household, and doesn't even know their real name or their real family. It feels like erasing what would have been their life, forever. Like a murder.

All of the enablers should be sued, arrested, publicly humiliated and shunned, convicted and thrown into prison. This is what the banality of evil looks like in the 21st century.

Other way around: the vast majority have been reunited, and about 1,000 are not yet with parent, although many are with other family members. I wasn't able to track down whether there are still any kids whose parents haven't yet been identified, and isn't THAT a chilling thing to have to say?

Thanks Dok. I'm extra excitable today.

“It really is a good idea to remind ourselves that for four years we were governed by sociopaths who thought that inflicting psychological trauma on children would be a great way to prevent people from committing the misdemeanor crime of crossing the border without papers.”

They weren’t even committing misdemeanor crimes. They turned themselves in seeking asylum, which is A LEGAL METHOD TO IMMIGRATE TO THE USA.

They fucked up thousands of people’s lives because the notion of “huddled masses” who are “yearning to breathe free”, by coming to this country, is one of the most repulsive things they can imagine.

Pretty sure that's the only kind of candidate the GOP will run from now on.

Yes, because what the ME needs right now is a flaming racist/white supremacist to stop by and talk about himself. Maybe Hamas will agree to take him in exchange for the hostages.

Ummmm, wouldn't he have to check in with his parole officers?

My thoughts exactly. He'd make everything worse.

Is the PAB expecting a big welcome from Benny? 🤔

He should seek alternate plans for Seder

SkeptiKC's avatar

That fat fascist fuck isn't going anywhere.

Besides, Israel already has their hands full with Hezbollah and doesn't need another foreign terrorist instigator waddling around.

Renaissance Outlaw's avatar

Does the PAB know that you don’t get cheese on your Big Mac in Israel?

Robert Eckert's avatar

When I was in Israel at a fairly nice restaurant I was surprised to see moussaka on the menu, since I only knew it as based on ground beef and melted cheese, so I ordered it to see what it would turn out to be. The cheese was replaced with eggplant, and it was quite good.

Not unless Fared and IrreleIvanka told him.

Of all the insane shitty things that happened under dumbfuck this one hit me the hardest. Thinking of my boys when they were little, how horrified I was to lose one of them for 4 minutes at an amusement park once, the thought of doing this on purpose kept me up at night.

My youngest daughter was painfully shy and my clingy Momma's girl.

A callous separation such as what was inflicted on these families by that flabby orange sadist would've absolutely devastated my R***-bug.

Rhiannon's avatar

You know it devastated all those babies. And trauma is the gift that keeps on giving. They, and the people who love them, will suffer all their lives. There is no punishment, no consequence bad enough for the people who did this.

I quite like looking at bright, beautiful birbs taking flight through your eyes and paintbrush, pretty birb.

Seeing it on the weekend with a friend whose father was born on the same rez during the time these events took place. Should be really interesting to her her father's stories that have passed to her.

Wonder if Jordan took Trump's advice on how to win over those recalcitrant hold outs?

Politics #101: The Art of the Steal

Suggest 'a lot of people' will be very angry if you don't vote for me.

Repeat: "I don't want anything bad to happen to you or your family."

Givem' the old: "Lots of my backers have guns and love the 2nd Amendment. I know you do too."

Finish strong: "My supporters are very fine people, and passionate armed patriots who won't understand you siding with the Democrats."

Never forget that while Trump was horrible, he was not uniquely horrible. His enablers were and are fully on board with the illegal, unconstitutional, extrajudicial horrors that they concocted.

As we have learned in courtroom after courtroom, when has a law stopped Defendant Trump?

OT. Been swamped this morning. Just now catching up on news.

Sidney Powell pleads guilty and is now cooperating with Georgia prosecutors. This is good news for John McCain. Not so much for Donnie.

"any permanent ban on family separations, Vance notes, would have to be enacted by Congress"

Uh, why? If it's appropriate to ban it for eight years, why is it inappropriate to ban it permanently?

Jen's Taking Greenland's avatar

cause exec level things can only last so long without congress doing its job of making things permanent is my guess

Sidney Powell pleaded guilty. I’m sure I’m not first with this but …

Alabama gave the middle finger to the US supreme Court just last month on the redistricting lawsuit. Yeah, no, MAGAts are respectors of no higher authority than their own gutter dwellers.

Katy Durrrr wondering why moderate Republicans can't come to some kind of agreement. How about we start with you and the rest of the press calling them moderates. There are no moderates in the GOP. They're all beholding to the orange shithouse. So, the reason the moderates can't do anything Katy, is because they don't exist. You're welcome.

GOP loser from North Carolina describing the destruction of House government as a problem because they're all just strong INDIVIDUALS. Not like those Stepford Democrats! Freedumb!

We don't make deals with terrorists.

If our nation's values are accurately represented by the state of Louisiana executing innocent people, then how are we ever going to protect migrant kids? America's bloodlust has no parallel in "First World" nations. No wonder we let a terrorist take charge for four years (and counting).

This is a step in a right direction. We have many other steps still to take.
