Remember back when dairy prices were going up and ice cream manufacturers were worried that the cost of a half gallon of ice cream would be cause sticker shock to their customers? What did they do? They kept the price per container the same (or reduced it a little) and made the carton smaller. It looked the same from the side in the shelves, but were not as deep. This is the same game the republicans are playing with insurance. It appears to be insurance. It is called "insurance." But when you really need it, it isn't really insurance.

I guess that's proof that Canada needs to go back to a market-based health care system.

The worst part about that 116% increase story in AZ? The only reason it happened (other than GOP fuckery, thanks little Marco!), was because our rates were really low- it was a one time adjustment. The year the ACA went into affect, my premiums plunged 60% from our old group policy. And they stayed low until 2015 when they jumped some, then again in 2016 when the risk corridor fuckery kicked in just in time for the election and rates doubled. However, that just meant that my premium is back to about what I was paying five years ago before the ACA, despite five years of inflation and me being five years older and more expensive to insure (and it's just as good, if not better, policywise). In the meantime, thanks to the ACA I was able to stick more than ten thousand dollars extra in my IRA that would have been paid out to insurance companies. Simple math says I came out way ahead. The people who can't figure this out and are instead outraged by the propaganda are idjits and the reason we can't have nice things.

hey! Remember when Hillary was the debbil because she went to a couple cocktail parties with Kissinger and that made her the worstest warhawk ever?

Good times! And thanks again Brosâ„¢, we really dodged a bullet. Thankfully we ended up with the guy actively taking advice on the DPRK from the geriatric war crimer and now demanding we double our nuclear arsenal, instead. I feel so much safer!

Henry Fucking Kissinger should be in jail, and then they brick up the front of the cell, and let him fucking *die* in jail.

As in the declassified documents from the Nixon era, when, in '71? '72? he told Nixon that if he ended the War, that he wouldn't get re-elected.....

THREE-QUARTERS OF THE DEATHS ON THE WALL, AND IN 'NAM, AND SOUTHEAST ASIA, ARE SO FUCKING NIXON COULD GET ELECTED AND RE-ELECTED.

That's the sole upside to becoming a Republican: You no longer have to say "With Votes".

Oh that is ok. Nixon also talked the south vietnamese into not going to the peace talks so he could get elected in the first place.

Dr. Henry Ratfucking Kissinger should be buried alive beneath the fucking jail, and forced to give back his Nobel Peace Prize (1973) AND give all the money, with interest, to the survivors of all those on the Wall for which he was responsible.

RPR, I wish you all the best with your knee. Healing light headed your way.

My long-ago knee MRI showed three torn ligaments, a really bad bone contusion, and multiple tibial fractures. Thankfully, it was not a surgical case. I did physical therapy as if it were my job, and healed completely.

I paid out of pocket for everything. Had I needed surgery, I'd have joined the ranks of the bankrupt. I could outline what I spent (and it was as little as possible; the orthopedic surgeon's PA gave me lists of places to get the MRI and PT, and I comparison shopped). That injury and being jobless for the last few years are why I'm broke enough to get Medicaid today.

We can't have single payer because half the citizens of the US are out of their minds, and keep the rest of us from having nice things.
