America executes obviously innocent people for murders they didn't commit. Doesn't sound like they should be trusted to add drug dealers.

Indeed, President Duterte of the Philippines (who, as I recall, had a habit of making similar suggestions about drug dealers) was a noted expert in the latest parenting theories and practices. Right? I mean, we all know Donald only looks to the very best and brightest, the expertestest among the experts.

I'm a bit surprised he made it through his reign alive. I expected he'd piss the wrong gang off and they'd murder him.

Point I head once about executing drug dealers:

If you're discussing anything above the scale of a college kid selling baggies of weed from his dorm room, the people involved realize they're in a business that could get them killed as it is. They've already decided that death is a risk they're willing to take, and a lot more immediate than the possibility that they'll be arrested, tried, convicted and executed. A federal death penalty won't scare them.

And really, you can extend this argument to make the case that the death penalty isn't a deterrent in general. Murder is the only thing that will get the death penalty in the US now. If it's a "crime of passion", the murderer isn't thinking rationally anyway. If it's premeditated, they're assuming they won't get caught. In either case, the possibility of execution won't matter.

funny, my drug dealer is…the state of MO. I already had a medical card; I still can’t believe recreational is legal in this GOP supermajority purgatory.

At least Rakolta is not a crook, at least as far as anybody has looked. I think he is in the construction business so who knows what might be under the pile of rotting lumber.

"Tough on crime" just means more dead bodies. The Blacker the better.

Because all Republicans offer you are dead bodes and hatred.

Also LOL I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am pretty certain he's not going to talk about the Sacklers when wanting to execute drug dealers.

We keep killing people in the USA over and over in the prison-industrial complex, we basically do torture in prisons. But to quote Dumbya, it "feels good" to keep doing this nonsense.

“Oh, then you are just as stupid as these guys who think capital punishment is going to be a deterrent for drug kingpins. As if drug kingpins didn't live their day to day lives under the possibility of execution, and their executions are a lot less dainty than ours and tend to take place without the bother and expense of due process.” - Leo McGarry
