the thing is, no one mentions that these so called 'able bodied' people are not claiming medical procedure costs etc EVERY SINGLE DAY - cos that is not how that works. are you going to a Dr or procedure etc every single day to get the most out of your expensive and yet really shitty private health care? no? are you also watching tv or socialising with people? yes? then shut the fuck up dude

“An able-bodied person on Medicaid today watches about 6.1 hours of television or just hangs out, leisure time,” he said in an interview on CNBC Thursday. “That’s a lot of time.”

It cites its sources or it gets the hose again.

This is fascism, again. Again, and again, the poor and disabled are blamed for society's problems. The answer is, without fail, forced labor. Make them work, even if they're selling pencils or making bottle caps.

If you're unemployed, you shouldn't be watching TV! Oh, no! Stare at the walls, commit crimes, Dr. Oz doesn't care.

I spell it in a way that suits me. You're off-topic.

"The average American spends around 5.3 hours a day on leisure time, according to one study."

He'll get THEM off THEIR asses soon.

"...perfectly healthy 30-year-old men who live in their mothers’ basements and play video games all day..."

These are just the guys businesses are champing at the bit to hire.

And a good part of tRump's base, don't forget. Silly Oz, insulting tRump's base is tRump's job!

Ya, know, an AI doctor might not be the best,

buy it would certainly be better at medicine than Oz.

And for all of those who say that nationalizing health care would result in intolerable and dangerous wait times, I can't see my new primary care physician until December, and it's taken a month to see an ophthalmologist after an accident that partially dislodged the implanted lens in one of my eyes. The time to find a doctor and wait for an appointment is long, even with excellent insurance. Would also help if the gubmint subsidized some portion of educational costs, much like they do for teachers.

A brief addendum: my physician's group was acquired by a hedge fund. They fired a lot of people.

It used to take 3-7 days to get an appointment, depending on the issue. Now they are scheduling 8 weeks out for "urgent (non-emergency)" care and if you want a physical, it's 4 months. Looking for a new doctor.

It doesn't matter who we are or what we do! I DGAF how much anyone "watches TV"! I mean, except for the inevitable brain rot associated with it, such as. This is all a red herring. Health care in this country, as in every other, but SANE country should be nationalized. I don't want to read any more arguments about who should or shouldn't work, or who does or doesn't "deserve" it. A healthy society would be the single most effective way to reduce homelessness in this country. But no... keep 'em sick; arrest 'em when they're homeless; toss 'em into your friend's profitable prison pipeline. Win-win-win for the monsters in the Republican Party.

With the median cost of an apartment nearing 2000 per month, it's past time to stop using "living in parents' basement" as a pejorative. It is actually a smart move, giving a young person a chance to save money (and hopefully, helping the parent/s as well).

I live in Louisiana. Half the population here is on Medicaid, including myself. Our MAGA governor doesn’t care. We’re screwed. Although I am enjoying my 6.1 hours of TV daily!

More welfare-queen argle bargle from a dude who wants to work for the government.

As a Family Physician I can report from personal experience that men between ages 18 to 50 don’t see a doctor unless they absolutely have to.

Add me, at 64!

The wait-times eat up your life, for one thing. Plus, I figure things usually get better on their own. That explains my 18-month bout of excruciating sciatica.

Of course I am an expert (MA/German, University of Oregon).

Well now that I finally have Medcare I am pulling the ladder up behind me. I am sick of hearing you young-ons whine about not wanting to die all the time.

Shorter Oz: "Won't somebody think of the poor rich people?"

Here’s the question I want to ask when they trot out the welfare queens / video king arguments to boot people off Medicaid.

Let’s accept your premise just for fun. There are people on Medicaid who are capable of working and would have no problem getting hired at a job with full benefits. They choose not to work because they’re lazy / evil / whatever.

What is the right thing to do when they get sick?

Permanently Confused@68's avatar

PUNISH THEM! With an "I told you so" and a trip to the pokey when they lose their home because they are too sick to work. Mwahahahahhaaha!!! (/s obviously)

I'll be waiting forever for Dr. Quack to explain how much money a "perfectly healthy 30 year old" is costing the taxpayers in Medicaid funds. Is he suggesting that Mr. Healthy Lazy Person takes time out of his teevee watching to have unnecessary medical tests, and visits to his PCP?
