Earth Day Gets Rained Out

To celebrate Earth Day, President Bush had planned to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where "spectacular vistas impaired by a polluted haze" apparently make for a nice backdrop for photo ops. Alas, heavy rains prevented Bush from making it all the way to the mountains. As a result, he was forced to deliver his Earth Day speech amidst the natural concrete splendor of an airplane hangar. A sign from God that oil companies need even bigger tax cuts than Bush's energy bill would give them? Probably.— GREG BEATO
