The same whiny right-wingers complain about the same thing in rural Lane County in regards to Eugene. Apparently, we need to divide states up by the neighborhood so everyone feels like their personal ideologies are being catered to.

Why won't reporters let this stupid bullshit die? One thing I've noticed about the breathless reporting is that nobody ever asks anyone in Idaho that holds any political power if (assuming, arguendo, the OR legislature were to let them secede) Idaho wants a bunch of shithole counties that have no money and no water. When someone introduced a non-binding resolution to "study" the possibility of maybe thinking about considering getting in on this nonsense, even republican Idaho legislators were making jokes about it during the floor speeches.

I went to High School in Ontario Oregon, home of Ore-Ida french fries and just west of the Snake river boundary between the two states. They have built a huge Walmart complex 100 yards into Oregon. Why, you may ask for a town of 10,000? Well.........Boise is 58 miles away.....Idaho has a State sales tax of 6%.......Oregon has 0%.......you do the math.

Enjoy your new taxes 'Greater Idaho'.

And just so you know, MOST of the folks in Eastern Oregon are Libertarian 'Ammon Bundy' small government types......have fun fighting the range wars kids.....

I for one see no disadvantage in letting Eastern Oregon become Western Idaho. It already is in spirit and attitude. The tax revenue loss might require some belt tightening and they will certainly divert the Columbia River in toto to water their fields. But solutions will be found.

To the Greater Potato wannabes: We hear you, we just don’t like what you’re selling. Move if you want - not liking Oregon politics does not mean moving the border to accommodate your whiny ass.

we saw a lot of these signs when we camping in Or this summer. Let us know which little town cafes to avoid

When I was a boy, if you were dissatisfied with your government, the response was, "You don't like it here? Move to Russia!"

Idaho seems like a far easier solution. Some of them can probably see it from their houses.

As if Boise could afford the financial drain of those whiney-assed eastern counties. Not to mention they would instantly drop their schools from being more than credible as rural schools to near the bottom of the national rankings. Good riddance, except Idaho is not stupid enough to accept their loser welfare asses.

yes

What they need is more listening. Because clearly they have been sosilent all along.

Can't we just tell these fucks to get bent already?

Look, when hard-working families of eastern Oregon are forced to gay marry and then either abort their children or turn them trans, I think they have a right to be upset.

What's funny is that if you look at the conceptual map from awhile back, you'll notice that two counties (Sherman and Jefferson) that are more north central Oregon, ARENT EVEN ATTACHED TO THE WESTERN IDAHO "ADDITION". Hahahaha.

They're basically "lone" parts IE landlocked / surrounded by Oregon counties.

Here in CA, they bleat loudly about this, too. Since it's all daydream nonsense, we should only offer them all the acreage they want to build their wingnut palaces, but only in the clouds, and nothing here on the actual literal ground.

I suggest we just treat them to the "Suck it up, Snowflake" line that they thought was so clever back in 2016.
