They did a study about military service in Congress during Reagan's administration. Most of them were from the left then as well. They were usually Vietnam era vets who'd been drafted and then went to college on the G.I. Bill when they got back.

The Republicans all had student deferments.

A friend who's a registered Republican and still has a landline gets lots of surveys during election season. They're always automated. The first question is: Are you prolife or prochoice? Press 1 for prolife and 2 for prochoice.

He presses 2, and the response is, "Thank you for your time." Click.

What do they hope to accomplish? The non-right media will ignore every number coming out of the White House and go directly to the state health directors and hospitals to build their own picture of what's going on. This is too big a story for them to just sit back and play stenographer.
