Elizabeth Warren Shan't Be Calling Mike Pence 'Decent' Any Time Soon

Or anyone else in the Trump administration, please and thank you.

On Thursday, Joe Biden made a little bit of a gaffe when he referred to Vice President Mike Pence as "a decent guy" while trying to make some kind of point about foreign policy and how the Trump administration is mucking things up. This did not go over too well with members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies, given his long, long history of being not at all decent as far as their rights are concerned.

Biden's comments about Pence came as he discussed foreign policy and how the international community had reacted to Pence during the vice president's speech at the Munich Security Conference earlier in February.

"The fact of the matter is it was followed on by a guy who's a decent guy, our vice president, who stood before this group of allies and leaders and said, 'I'm here on behalf of President Trump,' and there was dead silence. Dead silence," Biden recounted Thursday at the Chuck Hagel Forum in Global Leadership at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

While the "we're all friends who don't disagree on anything more serious than whether or not ketchup goes on a hot dog" schtick is probably just second nature at this point to Biden, as a Democrat of the '90s, it doesn't really go over so well these days! Biden ended up sort of apologizing after being called out by Cynthia Nixon on Twitter.

Anyway! Elizabeth Warren was asked about his comment at a campaign stop in Iowa -- specifically, she was asked if she, too, would call Mike Pence a decent fella. Her answer will not surprise you. It was "No."

See, this is what I like about Elizabeth Warren. She may be from Oklahoma but she's got a distinctly New England-y straightforwardness about her that I happen to be quite fond of. She's not about to pretend to like anyone that she does not like, just so other people think she's nice. She's not gonna go "Oh, sure, he thinks gay people should be put in re-education camps, but I hear he's real nice to his dog, so..." any time soon, unless she is being deeply sarcastic. It's refreshing! Like when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez flat out said that Trump was racist. No one needs any mealy-mouthed sonsabitches right now. Their time is over.

The reporter followed up, asking her "Do you think there's anybody in the Trump Administration that you would see as decent?"

Warren responded:

it's a tough question. The Mueller investigation has already produced 34 indictments or guilty pleas out of people in the President's inner circle. 10 cabinet officials have left, 4 with huge scandals and others with the threat of scandal at the door. This is the most corrupt administration in living memory. That's why we gotta be in this fight.

To be fair, I can't think of anyone either. They're all clearly, very bad people , by any estimation, and pretending like they're not doesn't help anyone or anything. It certainly isn't going to help in running against Donald Trump, who is going to be an asshole no matter how "civil" his opponent may be.
