He’s also good at what he does and his bosses love him. He watched way more of those stupid shows mentioned by Vivek than I would have like but as far as I can tell did not make life choices based on the characters in them. With nearly 50% of those who voted, voting for Trump, I’m not persuaded that there are enough Americans smart enough to fill the engineering jobs available. I understand that there are engineers who voted for Trump, and some may even be quite capable, but in general, I’m not going to trust that a Trump voter really understands what they are doing in any part of their life.
Don't underestimate how much the extremely wealthy benefit from Trump policies and some engineers will believe they are temporarily embarrassed billionaires.

As a woman worked in the tech field, I can say with certainty that there would be a lot more outstanding employees available if women weren't treated with such disrespect and passed over for jobs in favor of less qualified men. I wanted to be a manager (my work reports were all excellent), so I commuted about 100 miles round trip, after work, to get my MBA. I took one or two classes at a time. When an entry level manager job came up, they didn't even post it. They gave it to a guy they played basketball with.
My son the engineer’s manager is a woman and if I remember correctly is a couple years younger than he is. I think she got her master’s before becoming a mgr but she is in her late 20’s.
