It’s normal for defeated candidates to make a short speech thanking the people they served etc, but the lettuce lady just stormed off to bitch to a BBC reporter that she didn’t get rid of the human rights act quick enough.
Sadly for you guys, she is big pals with Steve Bannon’s carcass, so expect an outbreak of lettuce on your side of the pond now she is broke and desperate for work.
Also - standard British bitching about England / Britain not being interchangeable. All of the U.K. was involved in this election, (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.) Wales was the most enthusiastic in the Tory kicking - not one Conservative MP was left in Wales, not even the tit who tried to put a bet on the date of the election using his secret inside government knowledge of when the date would be.

And the right-wing fascists have 142 seats. If they make a coalition with the left-wing or with Macron's centrist party, they'd have enough to be in the majority! So why don't they form a coalition? Are they too incompetent? Are they too radically insane to even try making a coalition? Or, if they could get beyond their aversion to working with others, is there something repulsive and evil about them that prevents the others from joining their coalition?
Marine Le Pen while lamenting her party's loss exclaimed that she supports the policies of Putin and Trump. Will we read about that with the frequency of "Biden is old!" stories?
France voted smart. Now let's hope they govern smart (put their egos aside and compromise on passing lefty-centrist policies that will show people how much better things can be. Oh, and don't expect the farmers to shoulder all the costs of climate goals- help them out.)

The real question was posed by James Baldwin on Dick Cavett way back in '60s, why do they NEED a class of humans to spit upon? That's the real question. I read a thing in, I think the Gaurdian, about how badly the conservatives screwed Britain. It said that absent London, I assume greater London, most of Britain is economically on par with Mississippi.
Well, I can’t find it either, but googling “uk poor as Mississippi” gets a lot. It’s apparently a thing some pol said ten years ago, and has been revisited quite often.
They're talking about "the City of London" - a/k/a "the square mile" a/k/a the small neighborhood in the city that houses England's Wall Street & related financial services businesses. Those rich Tory fuckers all did fine while the rest of the country suffered. As an extra bonus factoid, the City of London is also Europe's largest dark money repository where many of Putin's oligarch pals keep their billions. Some of which they used to push Brexit. Fuck them all.
Well, I assumed they also meant the rest of London, as I imagine it’s as ridiculous rent wise and price wise that it takes a certain amount of dough to live there. But yeah, The City is certainly the financial focal point. I don’t think the nicer suburbs are going to resemble Mississippi much, though.

The majority of the party refused, and overthrew the party leader, who insisted he was still in charge and barricaded himself in party headquarters.
