Good riddance! Now, he should just drop into Saudi Arabia, where is loyalty to money, greed and corruption lies!

Ta, Marcie. All Adams did was make us miss Bill DeBlasio. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I'm looking forward to Mayor Mamdani.

Sallyfemina's avatar

If Mamdani can get even a fraction of his platform done, it will be worth a ticker-tape parade, except there's no ticker-tape any more.

Best wishes to NYC from the land of YOUR FAVORITE GOVERNOR.

Adams has been out of this race since last year. He just didn’t know it.

Now the only obstacle for Andrew Cuomo is the fact that he’s Andrew Cuomo.

I imagine the NYT is going to be pretty lit for the next month.

Listen --

I've heard more than once that even though he's (allegedly) formally withdrawing, his name will remain on the ballot because they're already printed (and, I guess the city can't spend the money to reprint them because it can't afford it and they wouldn't be done in time)??

Anyone know anything about that?

I'm concerned that people will vote for him because they don't know he's withdrawn

Not because NYers are not smart enough to know but because they're "too busy" / "avoiding politics" -- both of which I've heard too many times for comfort

If I gave more of a shit about NYC, this would be even better news. Still, though, lol.

But hey, if I were Adams - a nauseating thought, to be sure - I'd probably be thinking it's past time to step away and spend more time with all that ill-gotten mon . . . er, with my family, too.

I wonder what well paying positions doing nothing he will get from corporations and Cuomo backers for bailing out? Or just outright bribes.

“Pleaded” always sounds weird to me. It’s what journalists apparently prefer, but “pled” sounds better to me.

Brian McCurdy's avatar

For what it's worth, many years ago when I was a reporter, our editor drove it into us that it was "pleaded," never "pled." So "pled" always sounds like a false note to me. No idea what the style guides say.

fawkedifiknow's avatar

To be fair to Adams, he probably was so used to taking petty bribes during his P.D. career, he thought nothing of continuing the practice when he became Mayor.

That Adams “worked his way up from the bottom” just tells us that the corruption goes from the top down.

Yeah I don’t believe ICE when they say that they found a gun on Dr. Robert’s with a gun. Seems like they pulled up a past charge and used that. A “knife” could be just a tool to cut the seat belt. A lot of people have those.

Guns can also be used for cooking. Just ask Ted Cruz.

My Medicare Part D RX plan premium is going up next year. But Hair Doktor ChloRX said drug costs would be going down by 700%, 800%, 1000% or 1500%. According to basic math, that means WellCare should be sending me money instead of the other way around. Pam: DO SOMETHING! THEY ARE GUILTY AS HELL!

It's almost re-enrollment time for me. Can't wait to see the new rates.

"But US district judge Jeffrey Bryan deferred until future proceedings the question of whether Lindell – one of the country’s most prominent propagators of false claims that the 2020 election was a fraud – acted with the “actual malice” that Smartmatic still needs to prove to collect any damages."

So..... man, that lets a lot of MAGA idiots off the hook!... Isn't there some legal need to try to decipher accuracy when you're making false claims?...
