I worked extensively with systems from Digital Equipment Corporation back in the 1980s, mostly on a PDP-11 and various VAXen. Surprisingly, that's where I first learned about wombats.

In elementary school, we had a thing where we read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and then we had to make our own little books following that story. Mine was "If you Give a Wombat Sunscreen" because "wombat" was one of the funniest animals I could think of. Most other kids kind of phoned it in--easy animals like "If You Give a Dog a Cookie" or "If You Give a Mouse a Cupcake".

I'm still pretty proud of mine. The wombat ran around the world and ate lobster and all these other things. Also, I had no clue what a wombat was before I began my little book.

That's so clever, Babe! I bet your teacher was especially proud of you.

Things are going much better now, I have 2 part-time clients and looking for another. But for now, I'm making enough to cover my nut, so that's a good thing. And I'm still writing every day, which definitely keeps me in line, hee hee. Hope you are doing well too, my sweet friend. This winter of transition for the two of us has sucked ass! Very happy spring is here. Big hugs to you, honey!

Oh my friend! So nice to hear from you! You are such a blessing to your clients, and so gracious to write and share your wisdom with us all. I am proud of you!

Spring is here, and I wish all the best for you. That third client is out there and has no idea how lucky they are!

Hugs and love!

If a wombat comes out of his burrow and sees his shadow does that mean it is six more weeks of,,, winter? Summer? I lose track of Australian seasons. I thought is was drought, flood, fire, opal and shark.

If you go hunting opals be sure to have your fossiking license and a field guide. Not to ID opals, more so you can tell the doctors at the emergency room what bit you and maybe they can keep yu alive.

Thank you for the wombats. I think they are quite fascinating creatures. I see someone has already mentioned the poo, but there are so many interesting things about them. Made me smile, and anything that produces a smile these dark days, is welcome!

Wombats produce cube shaped poop

Because they digest slowly

They leave it piled on rocks and limbs

To mark their terrritory

One hopes self-medicating dismay and despair with the adorable baby animal thing will fizzle out soonish - especially the wombat fetish before the hapless creatures become extinct.

Native animals in Oz are tragically in dire straits, mainly due to hunters, fishers, farmers, shooters, foresters, miners, sentimental humans, and influencers of late.

No frustrated maternal instinct here, just narcissistic infantile and cowardly behaviour.

I have wondered about that championship belt in the picture (on table over Z's right shoulder):

"At the infamous White House meeting, the Ukrainian leader said he planned to gift Trump the championship belt of heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk. However, Zelenskyy chose to start out by showing Trump images depicting how badly Russia has treated Ukrainian prisoners of war.

After the meeting went off the rails, Zelenskyy left the White House early and never got the chance to give Trump the belt. However, Time reported that a White House staffer found the gift in the Oval Office and placed it in Trump’s dining room." {HuffPost Updates}

The UK is issuing new guidance to schools to teach children the dangers of “misogyny and the growing appeal of influencers such as Andrew Tate.”

Or as the Krasnov regime would call it: “woke DEI shit.”

Maybe someone from the UK ministry of education can give seminars to American law firms and universities about how not to give into fascism and why that is never a good thing.

The capitulation of Paul Weis is particularly galling because another law firm had already an injunction against Krasnov’s illegal attacks. All Paul Weis would have had to do was go to the same judge and say, “Ditto!” And they would have gotten the same injunction.

Posted some photos around 4 AM in the morning, just figured out that I could do video clips. Also, which means a monster has been created, of course.

Meanwhile, here’s a very short clip of the Aurora kicking up her feels. I didn’t realize this would pick up audio, so you can faintly hear an owl in the background. Kindly ignore my attempt to respond to the owl. The owl did.

"The chairman of law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP Brad Karp sent an email to employees on Sunday claiming that Paul Weiss had entered the deal with the administration after the legal industry did not mobilize in defense of the law firm.

“We were hopeful that the legal industry would rally to our side, even though it had not done so in response to executive orders targeting other firms,” the email, which was published by Business Insider, said. “Disappointingly, far from support, we learned that certain other firms were seeking to exploit our vulnerabilities by aggressively soliciting our clients and recruiting our attorneys.”" {HuffPost Updates, excerpted}
