An asshole that I am FB friends with right now went on a homophobic rant this week about it bein' a sin (oh, and and evolution's a lie, did you know?) For diplomatic community theatre reasons I cannot just tell him to fuck off and delete him right now, but as soon as the current show is done, he's gone. And I just changed my profile picture to the pretty pink and red equality logo, just to piss him off. Oh, and I checked, and our mutual friends include a couple of gay guys who have been in a long-term relationship and have been talking about getting married. So they got to read his assholery as well. Fucking asshole.
I agree that he shouldn't be a total and complete asshole, but he is incapable of change- truly arrogant beyond belief- and I have to deal with him as producer of the show I'm directing til the middle of May. So I'm settling for subtlety til then.
I rarely see this crap on FB, mostly because I limit whom I friend. This guy should never have made it on my list, but I find it interesting that not only has his rant gotten no comments yea or nay, but not even a single like. My guess is that people are just ignoring him in the hopes he will go away. I don't think it's intimidation so much as lack of energy. Meanwhile, I'm a gonna post more stuff to piss him off.
