Must disagree. 'Awduh' is close to Received Standard pronunciation, which is 'non-rhotic': absent a following vowel, the 'r' is dropped. Mah Deep South muthuh would awduh me to do mah homewuhk.

John Bercow, of immigrant stock, comes from Middlesex-- most definitely 'rhotic' territory. So there is some theatricality in his punctiliously posh pronunciation.

I have always enjoyed the tonguebath which John Bercow gives that word, and I really didn't think Bercow was saying 'Aw' and 'duh'....please tell me that you didn't miss that.

But thank you so much for your very kind offer of assistance. Not all young persons are so polite.
