I have Amazon gift certs from Xmas, I'll probably use them for food because I'm poor. But not during the boycott.

Boycott? Hell, I cancelled my account the day I saw Bezos at the inauguration. But glad to see all the boycotts. Consumerism is wreaking havoc on our psyches and our planet.

If your "woke" like me (and I'd rather be woke than sleeping): I don't know why you'd ever shop at Amazon, period: If you're not in the position that you have to.

Boycott Trader Joe’s, too. They’re anti-union.

Ta, Robyn. I'm late to the post, but not to the boycott. Tractor Supply Co was among the very first to announce their disowning/discarding DEI, AFTER being named one of the best places to work for gay people, so our pro-DEI boycott started with them. La lucha continua.

Oh, hell yes, it is way past time we stopped treating corporations like neutral entities when they are very clearly picking sides – and not just any side, but the one actively trying to rewind progress like it’s a VHS tape they want to rewatch from the Jim Crow era.

Amazon? The all-consuming behemoth that treats human beings like disposable cogs in its insatiable profit machine? Yeah, skipping it for a week is the bare minimum. And Target? The same company that folded like a cheap lawn chair when the bigots came for Pride merch? Oh, they don’t get to turn their backs on DEI without feeling a financial chill.

And listen, I get it – not everyone has the luxury of fully opting out of these retail monopolies because capitalism has ensured that. But for those of us who can? Personally, I’m putting my money where my values are – Farmer's Markets, Local Mom & Pop shops where I know their political leanings, and family-run ethnic markets that actually give a damn about the people in their communities.

Because at the end of the day, if we don’t force companies to feel the pain of their moral cowardice, then they’ll always default to the easiest, most bigot-friendly path. And we are not about to let that happen.

I work in downtown Manhattan and Target is the only store in the area. I’ll just pay a little more in my neighborhood for a month.

We shut down our Amazon, Target, and Whole Foods accounts for good. A week isn’t enough, 40 days isn’t enough.

I live in a small town in New England. So shopping is extremely limited. If possible I turn to Wayfair for a lot of stuff I would normally buy on Amazon.

Heard on the family grapevine: one of my many nieces was steadily working toward a management position at Amazon, having moved to a different state to do so several years ago. She worked looong hours, met and exceeded every goal set, but still was getting fobbed off with excuses to prevent a promotion. People really liked working with her. Then a slightly younger, less qualified and experienced white male who had not been at the company as long as her was promoted instead. So she interviewed for and obtained a much better job for a company in an adjacent state and then quit Amazon, and is making MUCH more money with benefits. Then she texted "Amazon is run by assholes."

For self-proclaimed "liberal progressives" some of you sure buy a lot of stuff.

And you know this how? People might be buying necessities.

As the story subtitle says, "Don't buy stuff." "Stuff does not rule out necessities. How about "Buy less? or "Buy only what you really need?"

I can join the Target "fast" now, but only 3-4 days ago I made an order because Mr. Anzu needed a new hat and they were the only ones selling literally the exact same one he had before that he loved so much. Amazon, though, I've been boycotting since the WaPo op ed nonsense.

As someone who continues to take covid seriously, I have treasured Target's curbside pickup with ALL MY HEART. I used it for all kinds of stuff—seriously, I added up everything I ordered from them in January, and it was over $1100. But I decided to boycott both Target and Amazon for February, and now I'm continuing on through Lent. It's been an even bigger cost-saving than I expected: I had definitely fallen into the near-daily habit of "Oh, I'm running low on mouthwash? What else should I order from Target...?"

So I hope Target misses me. It's shoppers like me who keep you afloat, Target! I don't expect ANY big corporation to be "noble", but they could at least not be dumb and self-defeating. Maybe ask yourself, Target, who buys more laundry detergent and cat food and whimsical home decor: Donald and Elon, or the MILLIONS OF MIDDLE-CLASS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES THEY'RE TRYING TO FIRE???
