I really believed in the concept of Free Speech, even that which was repugnant and blatantly false, before the introduction of social media into our society. It was then that it was revealed to me that there is a vast populace who will really believe anything if it supports their twisted worldview. They’re not the majority, yet - but they’ll kill us all by believing the “free speech” of gaslighting, lies and manipulation. I don’t know if I believe in free speech for the masses so much anymore. I had faith that institutions - even corporations - would call out lies for all to see. Facebook has proven me incredibly naive by failing to do so time and time again.
PS That $1.7 million an hour isn't based on an 8 hour day: Mark isn't some common peasant, clocking in and clocking out, time and a half for overtime, weekends off, two weeks paid vacay a year. That's $1.7 million an hour, 24/7.
Very disappointed in Zuck. I thought a guy who built his empire off of an app meant to help privileged 20 year old men to keep tabs on hotties vs. notties, would have more moral awareness.
Me either. Also, whatever his credentials as a liberal, Chomsky's linguistic theory has been proven wrong. Can't remember the name of the book about that, but it was enlightening about linguistics as well as about Chomsky.
Has any genealogist ever researched Zuck's family history? I would lay money down, with his name, that relatives of his were part of the Holocaust. If any were sent to the chambers, it needs to be publicly known. Too little too late. טאָכעס
