Four people were ejected from a high school commencement ceremony in Senatobia, Mississippi, after breaking the rules and cheering for their graduating teens, because the school superintendent had said quite clearly that everyone should hold their applause until all the graduates' names had been announced. He said it right at the beginning and everyone knew the rules, but SOME PEOPLE just can't follow simple rules, now CAN THEY? And then, to emphasize the point, a week later, Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster somehow managed to get a judge to issue
Skin cancer on his neck got to a muscle that leads to the tongue. To my knowledge he never attempted to tan his tongue. He was an avid golfer for decades. Doctors constructed a new tongue from thigh muscle, so he can talk, but cannot swallow. He takes all nourishment in liquid form through an opening at the base of his neck.It was a 14 hour operation, followed by many hours of speech therapy to learn to talk. It's not uncommon. Diagnosis and treatment were confirmed by MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
In one place in the Deep South, this was set up by the school. (Usually the white prom is a "private party.")
A biracial girl asked the principal which prom she should go to. He told her, "Your mama and daddy made a mistake, and I'm going to make sure no mistakes like that are made this year."
She looked him up and down before replying: "Their mistake was nothing compared to the school board's."
That got her a suspension, but it was reversed on appeal. Guess the school board didn't want their mistake publicized.
Well, whoever they let into school down there they certainly didn't learn how to spell. One of the arrested parents held up the warrant for a local TV news camera.. the court misspelled "disturbing" in "disturbing the peace".. "distube peace".. I'm not making this up. Apparently, they don't bother educating the white people down there either.
I am so sorry this happened to your BIL! Holy cats, that's awful. As a Ginger-American, I officially apologize to my parents for the eyerolls they endured from me while they coated me in sunscreen throughout my youthful summers.
This shouldn't have even counted as disturbing the peace. From criminal.findlaw.com:"It is not enough that a person engaged in conduct that merely annoyed, harassed, or embarrassed another person...However, if a person's non-violent actions are likely to incite violence or public disorder, criminal liability may apply."Soooooooooo *NOT* disorderly conduct! In the end, I place just as much (if not more) blame on the judge for signing the warrants.
The thing about education in Mississippi is they kind of don't do it. The National Assessment of Adult Literacy survey reported that the statewide illiteracy rate is 16% (roughly the same as Guatemala, a little worse than Iran), with county rates exceeding 30% (roughly the same as the Congo or Yemen). This is real, absolute illiteracy, not the can't read the 8th grade level stuff they do in some states. To be clear. Nearly 80% of elementary and middle school kids in school there can't read anywhere near grade level (again, see DR Congo). This is why one cheers at graduation (although there is no guarantee or even favorable odds on the graduates being literate) and why the court actually misspelled "distube peace" on the arrest warrant of one of the two sets of parents.
This is just bat shit crazy. Citizens are arrested for cheering on their relatives during a high school graduation ceremony? If they had any sense, they would file charges against the school and community for their civil rights being violated.

In a word, it's all pretty horrifying.
Gawd, these white people all look the same.
This is just bat shit crazy. Citizens are arrested for cheering on their relatives during a high school graduation ceremony? If they had any sense, they would file charges against the school and community for their civil rights being violated.
... same here... https://www.youtube.com/wat...
... also, too "petty and drunk with power" pretty much describes all Repug politicians.
... there is nothing sharp about that homeschool. And the only thing they shoot is the shit.
Jude needs to be fired.. police needs to be fired... school board needs to hired someone who not a jerk....
it wasn't the principal it was the superintendent
it is an illegal arrest and any courts that think otherwise are racist...
