I never, ever thought I'd be feeling sorry for the god-damned FBI.

I for one welcome the return of the days when all one had to do to evade arrest was cross a state line.

Purges? It only makes sense to do this kind of stuff if you are planning to seize power and never give it back. Otherwise, making sure entire branches and sub-branches of the government are loyal to you personally (rather than to the Constitution) would be a wasted effort. This situation is going downhill very rapidly. Donald Trump has only been in office for a couple of weeks, and he is already up to extreme varieties of "no good."

The minute George W Bush said "the Constitution is just a piece of paper," I knew there were Nazi's involved and that we were fucked.

Ta, Marcie. Never in life did I expect to find myself on the same side as the feebies. Strange times we're enduring.

Years ago somebody posted (I can't remember who I'm plagiarizing):

"I never imagined that in our national divorce, the Left would get custody of the football players and the FBI agents, while the Right got the woo-woo health quacks and the Russian fellow travellers."

The way the right has turned on the FBI is still really bizarre. The FBI has always been a conservative organization. No Democrat has ever been appointed director of the FBI because republicans always pick republicans and democrats think appointing a Republican to head the FBI will score them points with the people who want them all shot for treason.

And remember that the FBI had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into retrieving the documents Stinky had stolen after two years of him lying and actively hiding them. And how could we ever forget that that James Comey putting his thumb on the scale that helped inflict Trump on us in the first place? The FBI also has a long history of targeting civil rights leaders.

So as bizarre as it may seem that Cheeto wants to purge the FBI and turn it into the new Gestapo, this is where we are.

When criminals run the government, no honest law enforcement agent is safe.

The FBI may be conservative, but the CIA has been studying cults and mind control since the 50s. Guess who won?

There was a time when the NY FBI field office was a bunch of Trump-curious Giuliani knob-polishers who pressured James Comey into reopening the investigation into Hillary's emails a week before the 2016 elections. Either those guys are long gone or maybe it's just now dawning on them that the leopards can eat their faces, too.

IANAL but, would it be appropriate and timely to initiate a class-action suit on behalf of fired and forced-to-resign non-political-appointed federal employees claiming labor law violations and improper dismissals and corruption? If such a suit were announced, it might provide some cover for affected individuals. They would understand that they were not alone and individually vulnerable when faced with loss of livelihood, benefits, pensions, etc. Maybe eligible for actual and punitive damages.

Every single association and workers union needs to be in court demanding a restraining order that no civil servant may be removed from their position without proper due process and adherence to their contracts.

And I hope that there are Democratic AGs that are gathering evidence. Forcing bribes out of companies like Meta and ABC is hardly within the powers of the presidency, and should not be immune from prosecution, as would be all those that assisted in this.

Since the SCOTUS issued the treasonous "immunity" decision, there is no way Trump will be prosecuted. To claim it as an "official" act he doesn't have to show it is legitimately within Presidential powers, only that he spoke to executive-branch officials in the course of carrying out the shakedown.

The decision said nay there was a presumption outside of clear core powers.

But, more importantly this was a settlement by Trump the person, not Trump the President, since the cases all occurred after he left office.

He just used the power of the presidency as a threat. Claim jurisdiction on Meta or ABC providing news in your state. Heck, bring corruption charges against them for paying millions to settle a frivolous claim.

This is corruption. There are laws against that. Use them.

Yes, but Meta and ABC are immune from prostitution, which is what it is.

"All that was even going down at the very same time grifter, children’s book author, pal to Nazis and conspiracy-theory kook Kash Patel was sitting in his confirmation hearing on Thursday, claiming that he wouldn’t politicize the FBI, and that he didn’t agree with pardoning the rioters. Because MAGA thinks it is hilarious to lie to people’s faces and get away with it, they’ve got real boners for that!"

As hard as it is to conceive, maybe Patel wasn't lying? Maybe he knew the purge would be completed before he was confirmed?

Either way, the Democrats need to demand he return to a hearing before being voted on to answer for all of this. Every single Justice related nominee needs to be called back for further questioning.

So glad the "deep state" is willing to come to their own defense. If only they had been a little quicker on the uptake and legwork to keep this fucking criminal from ever returning to office.

OT, but... apparently Trump "Truthed" some nonsense about how the tariffs will help bring down pharmaceutical prices ("because we pay more than other people abroad!")... but you know, Congress passed a bill to at least address some of those exorbitant pharmaceutical costs and then Trump signed an executive order to throw much of those efforts into legal jeopardy.

I wish to God his followers could understand how logically incongruent these actions are, and finally realize he lies about literally everything.

Isn't that kind of the whole point of fascism? To be as unfair as possible to all the people that those running the fascism don't like?
