Luckily, no one actually reads the issues. Those that do read them don't understand them. We all show up at the polls with a scratch paper that says Issue 1: Yes. This will pass. Again. And Republicans will Ratfuck it. Again. Vote Republicans out is the only way. And all us cool kids left Ohio decades ago. Sorry. Not sorry. Ohio sucks and that's why we all left.

Hmmm. Maybe throwing some money at the campaigns for Democratic Justices Melody Stewart and Michael Donnelly and state appeals court Judge Lisa Forbes would be warranted at this time?

What I fail to understand is why the ACTUAL language of the ballot initiative can’t be placed on the ballot itself. There is so much deception involved in trying to “summarize” the ballot measures. Why not just post the actual language and let voters read and decide for themselves?!

With the US SCOTUS setting such a fine example of corruption, this time led by John Roberts, it's no surprise to me that other courts are going to be more bold in putting their thumbs on the scales. The NYT did an article about what John Roberts has been up to this year and Charlie Pierce over at Esquire has remarked upon it: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a62226176/john-roberts-scotus-trump-immunity/

I am so disgusted with my state. I'm praying that my fellow citizens will see through this and vote blue down ballot as well, since the state senators/representatives are up for election. The 3 Supremes are hyper important, and the ballots will have their party affiliation listed for the first time this year. The downside is we're not gonna have a shot at LaRose or DeWine till 2026. It's gonna take a few cycles to clean up this mess - if we get the gerrymandering amendment passed.

Sounds like some of these Ohio Supreme Court justices are emailing their resumes to Trump to replace Thomas and Alito.

So what happens after informed voters make the amendment pass despite the backwards language?

Does the legislature insist that what people actually wanted was what their summary said, and not the actual amendment?

Or do the low information voters, who took the summary as is, file a case that the wording was so misleading that the will of the voters has been subverted?

I’m thinking this is not just an attempt to keep those in the know from voting for the amendment, it’s an attempt to make the vote invalid.

LaRose tried the same thing with the abortion amendment. He inserted language the suggested the amendment would allow the infamous afterbirth abortion that TCF keeps rattling on about. Good news is the people of Ohio hate LaRose nearly as much as they hate John Kasich. Fuckers both.

I would not put it past them - but it is an Ohio Constitutional Amendment and description or no, THE AMENDMENT goes into effect immediately after the votes are tallied, and the legislature CANNOT mess with it

Florida voted to return voting rights to people convicted of felonies after finishing their sentences, and the Florida legislature basically said "Fuck y'all" and banned it by law. This feels like they're setting up something like that.

"You have an opinion? Well screw you, we're more important."

WT actual F? The supreme court of Ohio decided it was backwards day and the description of the measure on the ballot could be the opposite of what the measure actually does? How is this legal (goes of to scream into the void. Again.)

the D's don't have enough money to do what needs to be done and i'm sure my pittance doesn't make that a whole lot better. also, people tend to get bored and not vote all the way down to the judges races--Donnelly and Stewart are fine judges and deserve another round. it's not hard to find information about judges, the local bar has that covered, but you still need to get out the word that such information does exist.

grrrr.
