Haven't used Google search in years. Don't use Gmail (have account due to phone being Android because I dislike Apple even more). Strong believer in Firefox and Pale Moon, especially Firefox. Google's founders always said they didn't want to do any harm. But then, the money started rolling in and they changed their minds.
Google is the poster child for "enshitification" in that they took a very simple easy to use search engine and over time larded it up with paid responses so that the first two or three pages of responses are all paid ads.
Google search is uniquely fucking awful and totally enshittified. Hopefully all these antitrust cases will get us some competition and better search results
As someone who’s stuck with Duck Duck go because if some weirdness between my carrier and ipv6, I would proudly stand up for google. There’s a reason they stand where they do. They’re the best search engine.
Franklin was a good journalist. When he read a news story, he would send his assistant on horseback from Philly to New York or wherever to get the response from the other party before publishing. The other writers would just say, "so and so could not be reached for comment."
This case is comparable in significance to 𝘜.𝘚. 𝘷. 𝘈𝘛&𝘛, the case that ended with the breakup of the Bell telephone system. Just for a little historical perspective, that lawsuit was filed in 1974 and settled in 1982.
Google may have been tops at one point. I remember the good old days. But it is trash now. I hate it. I put DuckDuck Go on my Pixel just to make my life easier.
"Then of course there’s also the question of whether the Supreme Court will let the decision stand, which is debatable since it will probably note that the Founders believed that the best way to search for information was simply to read all the daily papers for oneself."
One can understand why you think that would be the basis of any decision, but in fairness, the decision will come down to who last took a justice on a million dollar vacation or is letting their mother live rent free for the rest of her life, as all good judicial decisions eventually do.
I am putting in a plug for DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com/): they do not track your search history, and do not use it to serve you ads. They are not noticeably any worse than Google in terms of search performance/accuracy. They also have a useful service that will let you create one, or a number, of email aliases that strip out email trackers before delivering you mail (https://www.spreadprivacy.com/protect-your-inbox-with-duckduckgo-email-protection/).
a woman at a 4H & FFA got really upset w/ me when i asked her to hold my cock & pullet … there was no place to set the fowl down … alright i’m leaving …
If they are a monopoly, then all the advertising money I've spent with Google was fraudulently obtained. I already know they let click fraud run rampant, but if I've been forced to advertise there because they were illegally crushing advertising competition, then who the fuck knows how much extra they've made off of me. Seems like any arbitration agreement is null and void now.
Ds need the trifecta in Nov to resurrect the anti trust laws, fairness doctrine and over turn the motherfucking corporations united.
Only then would we ever make a dent into the stranglehold corporate america has on this entire country. WE the people have no voice as long as they pay their way to the top of everything.
I use Brave browser and their own search engine. I like them both.
DuckDuckGo search all the way.
Ta, Dok. I can remember when Google was user friendly. Seems like a very long time ago.
I remember when their company motto was supposed to be "Don't be evil." Guess they ditched that one when they realized how much money was in evil.

Duckduckgo uses Bing as the search provider. There are really only two Western search providers.
Agreed though. Google is unusable at this point. I also use DDG, and it's definitely superior.

I just switched my work phone browser to Duck Duck Go this morning before seeing this article!
Me, not surprised. Ike told us in the '50s they were ALL crooks and liars.
Then George Carlin told us they were even worse.
"supremacy, ascendance, preeminence, dominion, mastery"
These are all terms that apply to my COCK!
