Good job to the federal court for doing the bare fucking minimum.

Judge Winmill charges full tilt

such a Quixotic turn of phrase there Dok....

Seeing "Winmill" and "tilting" in the same sentence has me thinking of Don Quixote...

Lots of strange noises from my stomach this AM. Better spend the day watching TV on my couch (after swim class, that is).

Now, this is damned sad and unfortunate.

A man spends decades trying to track down his mother, finally finds her address, waits till after Covid restrictions before travelling, dresses up and buys flowers, goes to visit, only to be the first to find her body which had been lying on her bathroom floor for at least a week.

I have a friend who's dad was reunited with a lost son and then the son dies of covid four months later. Very sad.

It's important to understand where your ranging shot actually is...

The circumference is around 40000 km, so the great circle distance between antipodes is around 20000. So it's not easy to do much worse...

I got Sao Tome and Principe confused with Saint Kitts and Nevis, and was also half asleep as usual, and was thinking island the whole time.

Judge Winmill yelled at me once. I largely stopped practicing in Federal court after that. (Not because he was out of line, or even wrong, just because the Fed rules are SO skewed in favor of prosecutors.)

Dirty-Work's avatar

I've had a few run-ins with the law over the years. The constant is the cops lie. In my case twice to manufacture probable cause. If I know this in my brief encounters so do the prosecutors AND judges that see this crap come through their courtrooms everyday of their working lives.

Oblio's Cap's avatar

I've been excused from jury for disagreeing with the idea that I should just trust the cops because they failed to follow procedure.

Dirty-Work's avatar

Not a chance they'd ever seat me. I always answer the questionnaire:

"I'll assume everything the cops say is a lie based on personal experience."

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

I was excused because I said the state should investigate and charge domestic violence even if the woman drops the charges.

GEM's avatar

Colorado does that. My friend wouldn't so the cops said, fine, we will.

I’m fairly neutral about snakes. Some seem worth avoiding. King Cobras, for example. The rattlesnake will at least warn you before it kills you. That’s polite. For a snake.

But I will say one thing about the big snakes, the boas and anacondas and other constrictors: they work hard for their dinner. Swallowing oxen and the like? That’s no mean feat. I kind of like that in a snake.

From a distance.

Fuck me. I got up a couple of hours ago to pee, made a wrong turn and walked into the tub. Almost fell in and got a skin tear on my arm. Apparently I have trouble navigating at night.

Getting older sucks

JCfromNC's avatar

At least you didn't only half wake up, take a wrong turn and then peed somewhere inappropriate.

Courser's avatar

True. I can be thankful for the small things

Oblio's Cap's avatar

You only pee once a.night? Youngster!

I just got out of bed, toddled all the way downstairs, ate a piece of fudge and then crawled back into bed.

On the way back, I briefly considered feigning sleepwalking, out of shame, but: fuck it.
