I heard about a woman in West Virginia who was more concerned about gay marriage and abortion than her own horrible healthcare situation. Weird because IMHO people always do the thing that benefits them the most. Probably no one in her family was gay, likely to marry gay, or have an abortion (or at least one they'd tell her about) but taking care of herself apparently was not on the agenda. And not the martyr type, either.
That's "I've got mine, now fuck you." A phrase that applies to so many Greed Over People actions: efforts to repeal the ACA, tax cuts for the rich and corporations, taxpayer dollars funding private religious education, having public rallies to enlarge one's um, ego, and refusing to do any work since no one holds them accountable and they get paid anyway. Because 'Murica.
She and Debra Messing are getting into it on Twitter, as I understand. She had the sheer, unmitigated gall to call Messing "self-righteous." Fucking Cow! She needs to take a whole row of seats!
Thank you, friend. It is most comforting to hear from those who've been there. I've been told I needed this surgery for over 20 years but through pain meds, lots of yoga, and mindful living I've been able to put it off until now.
The GOP's appetite for making policy with a cost sharing, re distributive system like health insurance can be boiled down to the words 'I got mine and I'm not sick today and if you are sick, sorry.'
