There are the Habbas and the Habbas Not! The courts are among the latter.

A total lack of self-awareness, humility and introspection are hallmarks of these unqualified Trump appointees. “Fake it until you make it,” is more their motto than MAGA. Except that shouldn’t happen with appointments as important and demanding as this. I’ve personally tried 25 or more jury trials, most of them successfully. That’s a small number for many busy trial lawyers, but it’s several more than Habba tried before she started sassing judges, failing to introduce evidence and getting herself sanctioned. But ambition and a thick skull are all it takes to thrive in Trumpland if you are attractive (in Trump’s squinty, lifeless eyes), so there. If the governor of our state suddenly appointed me AG or something else I have no experience with, I’d say, “whah???” and I’d graciously decline and go back to making cheese and crackers and watching Columbo. I know my limitations.

Ta, Gary. No notes.

What is the note checkbox about?

Alina quitting is like the fire alarm resigning from the building it’s been actively burning down.

She wasn’t “serving the American people,” she was serving one very sweaty defendant who kept losing. The courts basically said, “You can’t legally have this job,” and she replied, “Fine, I quit.”

Classic MAGA energy. Fail upward, blame everyone else, and end with a selfie.

I see. So former acting US Attorney for the State of New Jersey is really s m r t., not dumb like everybody says and mean judges pick on her and slap her dainty wrist right in front of the jury and God and everyone just to make the jurors think she might not be the brightest bulb on the Xmas tree but the one that keeps getting singled out and finger snapped because the whole rest of the chain goes dark otherwise. And she wasn't ruled illegally appointed, she QUIT! So there! Nobody puts Habba in a corner! And never mind that she failed to present the legal documents required by law to get the job of enforcing the law in New Jersey, because she's just so good at lawyering that she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone and besides she was anointed by none other than the Vermin Supreme the God Emperor of the World so nobody nowhere has any right to dispute her Divine Right to the job, the Extreme Court said Donnie is a Very Special Boy who can do anything he wants.

I noticed that too.

Can't be long now, as much as p2025 wants to wait till 02/2027.

...what the hell are blue slips?

Zaak's avatar

I had to look it up too.

There are certain positions (like this one) where the home senators of that state can approve or disapprove the nomination. The blue slip is just the form that lets them do that, the paper on which the Senate asks for their opinion. The committee chair can decide whether or not to honor it, but traditionally they do. Decorum and all that.

I got into a dispute with a parking garage recently where it misread my ticket and overcharged me.

You're saying Alina's again available for these sorts of cases?

Hank Napkin's avatar

You had me at "Botticelli Curls".

"M"'s avatar

I don't think you want her

She seems to be the type more likely to represent the garage who overcharges

boo radley's avatar

She's "taking her fight to the country", eh? I'm sure wingnut welfare will treat her better than a real job would anyway.

Habbs and Halls looked the part as if they were in Suits, the show Sir Orangeface imagines is what justice is all about.

People in Suits looked better than that.

Suits has Gina and Meghan and Wendell Pierce.
