I understand that these are the same people who were *outraged*! when the Dr Seuss estate stopped publishing certain books with racist imagery. Didn't ban them, didn't ask for them to be removed from shelves, just decided to no longer make new ones.

When you give the government the authority to ban one book, it grants the authority to ban any book Your precious Bible may be on a future list.

They say they would ban books that include "sadomasochistic abuse," but I'm sure they're not going to ban a biography of Trump or a history of the Iraq War.

Calvin clearly gave the Supreme Court their whole judgement ethos for decisions impacting Trump, whereby the Constitution is Calvinball.

Great article, Doctor Zoom. I clicked your link to the Pen America story to further educamate myself on the Tenesee, Florida, & Tejas book purges. To control learning, the sharing of information, to attempt to cast school librarians as " Child Abusers, " to vilify human sexuality conveyed by books, is an attempt to suppress humanity itself. Cue right here moves by Fascist playbook courtesy conservative Christian Republicans. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury depicts a dystopian America where firemen burn books, where it is illegal to OWN books, an America where housewives zone out completely on pharmaceuticals, and a form of television that plays on giant screens ( wall to wall television ) in the protagonists home. So, Fahrenheit 451 in effect depicts right where we are now. American Media hyper-consumers who consider critical thinking dangerous. I wonder how many Board of Education members in Tennessee fully support the Heritage Foundations agenda ? "Maus," by Art Spegielman is a brilliant comic novel trilogy which describes Art Spegielmans father and mothers hiding underground from Nazi oppression, and ultimate internment in a concentration camp. The Maus series depicts the dehumanization, exploitation & extermination of millions of Jews. The events relayed by Art Spegielmans " Maus " trilogy effectively portray historical events and critically the exact means by which the Nazi Reich Operated. The similarities of the institutionalized, systemic oppression of the Nazis revealed by the " Maus " trilogy to the ICE Deportations without due process in direct violation of the US Constitution, is the key problem to those behind the draconian book purges. To these Christofascists, learning history itself is problematic. Margaret Atwoods " The Handmaid's Tale, " is a big problem because it questions the very values that the Heritage foundation is advocating.

Amazing how these people keep finding books by or about African-Americans that they consider to be “obscene.” It’s almost like they’re specifically targeting them in an effort to whitewash school libraries.

The stupid get stupider. I wonder how many babies will be born to girls under 17-years-old this year, next year, the year after, etc., etc., etc. I think we need to keep track unless they classify it or ban it.
